Strengthening disaster prevention and response in the new situation

(DN) - The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Document No. 8592/UBND-KTN to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to implement Directive No. 19/CT-TTg dated June 19, 2025 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the work of preventing and overcoming damage caused by natural disasters before the 2025 storm season.

The document requests the Department of Agriculture and Environment - the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, units and localities to urgently implement key tasks in the work of preventing and overcoming damage caused by natural disasters.

The document emphasizes that the Department of Agriculture and Environment needs to enhance its role and responsibility, not to be negligent or subjective in performing assigned tasks and responsibilities; focus on closely monitoring the situation, promptly and effectively implementing the work of preventing, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and rescue in the province according to the motto "four on-site", suitable to local realities to minimize damage, especially human lives caused by natural disasters...

Based on the actual situation of the locality and Dong Nai province (new) after the merger and official operation, advise the Provincial People's Committee to complete the organization and apparatus of the command and direction agencies to perform tasks in natural disaster prevention and rescue at the provincial and communal levels; clearly assign responsibilities to organizations and individuals to be ready for operation, ensuring smooth, effective and efficient operation after the merger of the province and the end of the district level operation.

Continue to deploy and effectively use resources supported in Decision No. 1660/QD-TTg dated December 26, 2024 of the Prime Minister ; at the same time, coordinate with the Department of Finance to balance and arrange local budgets and mobilize other legal resources to invest in thoroughly overcoming problems before the 2025 storm season, especially incidents of dikes, dams, telecommunications infrastructure, electricity, drainage and risks identified through storm Yagi in 2024, ensuring communication and power sources for disaster prevention and search and rescue in the province in all situations; overcome flooding, especially in urban areas. Continue to review and update response plans for each type of natural disaster in the province in the new situation.
