Strengthening traffic connection cooperation between Hai Phong and Nanning city, Guangxi province (China)
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of April 18, comrade Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee – Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation received a delegation of the Nanning City Government led by comrade Nong Sinh Van, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Secretary of the Nanning City Party Committee, who visited Hai Phong for a working visit.
Also attending the working program were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong; leaders of the city's departments and branches and Ngo Quyen district.
The working visit aims to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the People's Committee of Hai Phong City and the Government of Nanning City on establishing a mechanism to implement cooperation exchanges between the two cities signed in September 2023.
Welcoming the delegation to work in Hai Phong, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau hoped that this working trip would leave a deep impression on Comrade Nong Sinh Van personally as well as the members of the delegation. On this occasion, the Secretary of the City Party Committee informed the delegation about the socio-economic development achievements of Hai Phong city in the past year, and at the same time introduced the investment and business environment, potential strengths of Hai Phong.
Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau said that the total foreign investment capital attraction in the city in 2023 reached 3.62 billion USD, 1.74 times higher than the same period in 2022, exceeding the 2023 attraction plan by 81.16%, making it the second locality nationwide in terms of investment attraction. In particular, China is one of Hai Phong's strategic partners with a large number of projects and investment capital. Currently, in Hai Phong, there are 394 investment projects of Chinese investors (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan) with a total registered investment capital of 6.1 billion USD, ranking first in the number of projects and second in investment capital. Chinese investment projects are mainly in the fields of: manufacturing and processing industry, investment and business in industrial park infrastructure and real estate, trading of commercial goods, etc.
Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Le Tien Chau also expressed his joy at witnessing the good friendship between the two cities of Hai Phong and Nanning growing, with exchanges and cooperation in key areas being organized regularly and in depth, achieving many good results. The Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee hopes that under the guidance of the leaders of the two localities, especially the Secretary of the Nanning Municipal Party Committee, as well as the support of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, in the coming time, the two sides will continue to closely coordinate, further promote exchanges of delegations at all levels, business delegations; cooperation activities in the fields of culture, education, tourism, people-to-people exchange... to enhance understanding between the people of the two localities; cooperate to promote investment promotion activities, trade, logistics...; support connecting associations and enterprises to seek investment and business cooperation opportunities; promote and support the Departments, branches, localities, and units of both sides to implement specific exchange and cooperation activities... In particular, right after this meeting, Nanning Enterprises will soon deploy investment in Hai Phong.
At the meeting, Comrade Nong Sinh Van, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Secretary of the Nanning Municipal Party Committee expressed his joy at the achievements that Hai Phong has achieved in recent times. He also shared that Nanning is one of the cities with a high population growth rate, with good agricultural facilities, this is also a large food production city, with the output of dragon fruit, bananas, oranges, and tangerines ranking among the top in China; has a tradition of processing food, wood... In recent years, Nanning has focused on developing semiconductors, energy, electronic information products, tourism services... Comrade Nong Sinh Van proposed to strengthen cooperation with Hai Phong city on traffic connection, infrastructure, together promoting the early commencement of high-speed railway... Along with that is cooperation in industrial chains, professions, science and technology, culture, education, youth; cooperation in tourism between the two localities; Building institutional exchanges to understand each other and promote bilateral cooperation...
Agreeing with the proposals from Nanning, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed that these are issues that Hai Phong city is concerned about, especially regarding railway and air transport, which are the strengths of Hai Phong. The Secretary of the City Party Committee emphasized the commitment that Hai Phong city will make efforts to propose and advise the Central Ministries and branches on traffic connection with Nanning (China).
On this occasion, Ngo Quyen District and Thanh Tu District Party Committee, Nanning City signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation and development in the coming time; Sao Do Investment Group Joint Stock Company and Nanning Transport Investment Group Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening cooperation between Binh Luc Canal (Nanning Port) and Nam Dinh Vu Port, Hai Phong./.
