Forum “The role of the press in promoting the development of cultural industries by 2025”

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 31, in Hai Phong, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Vietnam Television and Hai Phong City People's Committee organized the Forum "The role of the press in promoting the development of cultural industries in 2025".

Attending the Forum were Party Central Committee members: Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of Vietnam Journalists Association , Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Hoang Trung Dung, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine; Nguyen Dac Vinh, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Social Affairs. Comrade Le Hai Binh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

On the city side, there were comrades: Pham Van Thep, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; Bui Duc Quang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council; Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors; leaders of central and Hai Phong city press agencies.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission delivered the opening speech at the Forum.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, stated that in order to inherit the spirit of the 1943 Outline on Vietnamese Culture, along with documents of the Party, the Government and current legal regulations, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has developed a "Strategy for the development of Vietnamese cultural industries to 2030, with a vision to 2045", in which it affirmed that "Developing Vietnamese cultural industries is the task of the entire political system, all levels, all sectors and the whole society". Cultural industries are an important driving force for socio-economic growth, contributing to preserving and spreading Vietnamese cultural values. In the context of integration and digital transformation, creative, artistic and entertainment products have become symbols of national bravery and intelligence.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh stated that reality shows that the press has effectively accompanied the development of the cultural industry: many festivals and art programs have been branded thanks to the media; traditional art forms and young artists have been widely disseminated; cinema, music and fashion products have become trends; television programs have contributed to discovering and nurturing talent. These successes affirm the leading role of the press in promoting culture, fostering creativity and integrating Vietnamese culture into the international community.

The forum is also an opportunity for the parties to discuss opportunities and challenges of the press in promoting the cultural industry; share experiences from media practices, businesses, and creators; and propose solutions to strengthen coordination between the press and cultural industries in the new period.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong delivered a welcome speech at the Forum.

Speaking at the Forum, on behalf of the city's leaders, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the initiative to organize the Forum "The role of the press in promoting the development of cultural industries in 2025" in Hai Phong. The Vice Chairman said that, aiming at the goal of building Hai Phong people to develop comprehensively, imbued with national spirit, humanity and science, the city has issued many new policies and mechanisms, making breakthroughs in cultural development. Cultural activities are increasingly going into depth, effectiveness and excitement; the cultural environment is focused on, heritage and traditional values ​​are preserved and promoted. People's cultural life has improved significantly, many cultural and sports institutions have been invested in, serving the organization of major events, contributing to promoting international integration in culture.

Accompanying the city's development, central and local press agencies always play an important role as a bridge of information, orienting public opinion and spreading positive values. Through that, the press contributes to promoting the image of Hai Phong, effectively propagating the cause of socio-economic development, cultural heritage values, historical relics and tourism potential of the city. In particular, communication work increasingly focuses on spreading the unique cultural values, rich spiritual life of friendly and hospitable Hai Phong people, thereby promoting tourism development associated with heritage exploitation in a diverse and sustainable direction.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his belief that at this meaningful Forum, the leadership's guidance, along with initiatives and proposals from managers, experts, scientists and journalists, will make practical contributions to the development of specific and feasible solutions and policies, promoting the strong development of Vietnam's cultural industries.

Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, shares press experience in accompanying the development of local cultural industry.

At the Forum, there were 05 presentations, focusing on the role of policy and communication in the development of cultural industry: Mr. Pham Cao Thai, Director of the Department of Legislation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), proposed solutions to remove policy bottlenecks; Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi), analyzed the role of mass media through international experience and implications for Vietnam; Dr. Chu Tien Dat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VTC Corporation, Vice President of the E-Sports Association, presented the current situation and solutions for software and entertainment game development; Mr. Pham Quoc Thang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VTV Times, proposed solutions for the press to promote its role in promoting the cultural industry; Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, shared experiences of the press accompanying the development of the local cultural industry.

Within the framework of the Forum, there was also a Dialogue Session between the press, businesses and managers with key contents related to: the current situation and issues arising in the development of cultural industries today; proposed solutions and policies to support development; strengthening cooperation between the press and businesses in promoting cultural products; sharing experiences from successful models...

Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh delivered the closing speech of the Forum.

In his closing speech at the Forum, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh affirmed that the press plays an important role in promoting cultural industries, both as an intrinsic driving force and an effective bridge and catalyst. The Deputy Minister suggested that the press continue to innovate content, form, apply technology and digital transformation to spread the spirit of creativity, honor cultural values, and build the Vietnamese cultural brand in the international arena. At the same time, the press needs to provide accurate and humane information, contributing to aesthetic orientation, arousing national pride and protecting cultural foundations in integration. The Permanent Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of training a press team with strong political will, deep expertise and understanding of culture and art. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is committed to accompanying and creating favorable conditions for the press and cultural industry to develop sustainably, making practical contributions to the country and the people.

Alongside the Forum, the Photo and Video Exhibition “Happy Vietnam” organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially opened, introducing the award-winning works and the finalists of the Media Award on Human Rights of the same name.

In addition, the Photo and Document Exhibition with the theme "Culture and Cultural Industry of Hai Phong City" organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, displayed 150 works to honor and spread the unique cultural values ​​of the city./.
