Many people like to buy goods on social networks because the designs and prices are much better than going to stores. Once satisfied, customers "close the order" by leaving their phone number and address and waiting to receive the goods. When the staff arrives to deliver the goods, the customer checks the goods and only pays when satisfied. Thanks to its convenience, online business has attracted many more customers than traditional business.

Why are online business goods always cheaper than traditional stores? Simply because individuals doing online business do not have to pay for rental space, and the origin of goods is unclear. Not to mention, currently many online businesses do not fulfill their tax obligations to the state like traditional stores.

Meanwhile, traditional businesses must comply with legal regulations on business such as fulfilling tax obligations, proving the origin of goods for business, rental costs... Unfair competition leads to traditional businesses being "disadvantaged" much more than online businesses.

It is not difficult to find products sold online on the social networking platform Titok, including medicine.

It is undeniable that online business is an inevitable development trend today, however, if there are no constraints on business conditions for this type of business, it will create unfair competition with traditional business. In addition, if this business model is not strictly managed, consumers will suffer losses when buying poor quality products, counterfeit goods... without protection.

According to Mr. Hong Van Hoang - Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Market Management Department, online business activities are developing strongly and bustlingly on e-commerce platforms, digital platforms and social networking applications, which are more dominant than traditional business types.

However, this is a new and developing business, so the inspection and control activities of the authorities are limited because this type of business does not have a fixed business location; goods are scattered and hidden in many places, not displayed publicly like traditional business types; livestream sales points and warehouses are not in the same location, so inspection and control work is difficult.

Faced with the above situation, under the direction of the General Department of Market Management, the Tay Ninh Market Management Department has deployed the establishment of an e-commerce team. After its establishment, the inspection team has carried out its tasks, the first of which is to implement the project according to Decision 319/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the project on anti-counterfeiting and consumer protection in e-commerce until 2025.

Preliminary results show that in the first 6 months of 2024, the Market Management Department inspected 18 cases, handled 9 violations with a budget payment of over 240 million VND, and temporarily detained and destroyed goods worth over 186 million VND.

In the coming time, the Market Management Department will strengthen the direction of Market Management Teams and area management teams to review and promptly update accounts that conduct online business on personal social network accounts such as Facebook, Zalo, etc., especially websites that sell goods or provide services with online ordering functions registered with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to include them in the list for strict area management to promptly check and handle violations when they occur;

Continue to coordinate well with functional sectors such as Tax, Customs, Economic Police, Department of Information and Communications to review and update accounts with online business; strengthen communication to business households and people so that consumers can choose and business households can comply with legal regulations on commercial business, especially in the online business environment;

Closely coordinate with the Tax sector to control online business accounts to prevent tax losses, gradually bring e-commerce activities into order, ensure fairness between traditional and e-business, protect consumer rights, and create a healthy business environment.

It is predicted that in the last 6 months of the year, business activities, including online business, will increase sharply. The Market Management Department will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to inspect business activities of goods, in order to best protect consumers and create a healthy competitive business environment.
