Application of synchronized digital technology
To enhance the experience for tourists using city tours by cyclo, the tourism industry has introduced an automated commentary service integrated with artificial intelligence (Auto guide).
With this service, when booking a city tour by cyclo, tourists will be equipped with an Auto guide device, integrating multiple languages such as Vietnamese, English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese… throughout the journey.
Experiencing a cyclo ride in Da Nang for the first time, Ms. Lee Dahye (a South Korean tourist) couldn't hide her delight. What impressed her most was the comfortable, leisurely feeling of admiring the streets and listening to the automatic Korean commentary through the integrated Auto Guide system on the cyclo.
She shared: “Tourists can choose the language they want to listen to, and when passing through major attractions, the device automatically activates the commentary without needing a tour guide. This is really convenient for tourists who like to explore the city independently.”

According to Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, when tourists use Auto Guide, in addition to the convenience of automatic commentary in the tourist's chosen language, they can also interact with the AI Chatbot integrated into the device's application to gain a deeper understanding of the attractions included in the cyclo tour route around the city.
Currently, some museums are also gradually digitizing artifacts, providing more convenient experiences for visitors. The Da Nang Museum has implemented a project to build a heritage map of Da Nang and update 2D and 3D images of all heritage sites, historical relics, and scenic spots in the area to serve tourists. Each artifact will be fitted with an electronic chip so that visitors can look up information and in-depth details about the artifact…
Recently, at the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2025, augmented reality (AR) technology was applied for the first time, creating a vivid and multi-dimensional fireworks display via smartphone to enhance the experience for locals and tourists. Beyond just watching the fireworks, users could also explore Da Nang's prominent landmarks, depicted through virtual light, movement, and sound, from the Dragon Bridge and Golden Bridge to the statue of the Goddess of Mercy…

Enhancing competitiveness
Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, assessed that in the current trend of digital transformation, the application of technology and digital platforms is an essential solution, contributing to improving the effectiveness of online promotion and marketing communication, enhancing competitiveness, smart tourism business management, connecting tourism products with distribution channels, service providers and tourists, and increasing the convenience and quality of service for tourists.
To meet the ever-increasing demands of tourists, the city's tourism industry constantly innovates and applies digital transformation to promote and enhance the visitor experience. As the tourism, service, and technology hub of Central Vietnam, Da Nang is always at the forefront of applying digital technology to build a smart city, an attractive, modern, and friendly destination.
In recent times, the city's tourism industry has applied many digital platforms such as: VR360 and metaverse virtual reality technology, online exhibitions, the Da Nang tourism application on mobile devices; "One Touch to Da Nang" at vr360.danangfantasticity.com; Chatbot applications, and promotional channels on platforms such as Klook, KKDay, Traveloka, Google...
Mr. Vuong added that, in addition to developing and implementing applications to serve tourists, the trend of doing business through online travel agencies (OTAs) is increasingly developing. In 2024, the number of searches and bookings for services to Da Nang through OTAs increased by 30-35%, significantly contributing to attracting tourists and expanding market access.
In addition, businesses in the accommodation sector are also shifting strongly towards applying digital platforms to attract customers. Most hotels in Da Nang have adopted platforms such as Agoda, Booking, Traveloka, etc., to help customers quickly search for and book rooms.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen Na, Director of Online Business at Vietnam Travelmart JSC, OTAs play a crucial role in reaching global customers and promoting services. Therefore, businesses need to identify OTAs as strategic partners to exploit domestic and international tourism markets, with leading strategic partners including Klook, Kkday, Trip/Ctrip, Traveloka, etc.
Through market data provided by OTAs, businesses can understand customer trends, habits, and consumer behavior; and thus adjust their business strategies accordingly.
To optimize the operation of services on OTAs, businesses need to design products that suit the tastes and trends of the OTA market, diversify services, focus on product and service quality, and build flexible and highly competitive pricing policies… to enhance customer experience and meet customer needs.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to enhance the visitor experience, the city's tourism industry needs to develop the Da Nang Tourism Portal, integrating information from Quang Nam (formerly) tourism; integrating information with the Digital Food Map, adding separate sections on MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences, seminars, and exhibitions), culinary tourism, medical tourism, wedding tourism, golf tourism, etc.; developing a VR360 map; upgrading the AI-integrated tourism chatbot to suit local information needs (multilingual)...
In addition, we will continue to strengthen communication activities, tailored to each specific target market; implement communication campaigns; and cooperate with technology and media companies to deploy digital advertising campaigns through Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and other social media platforms.
