From positive learning environments to sharing schools.
The Biology and Technology lesson in class 12/3 (Nguyen Van Thoai High School) was lively right from the start. Teacher Pham Thi Hoai Phuong led the lesson with games familiar to the students, such as "fruit slicing" and creating shapes based on illustrations.
The students enthusiastically participated, cheered on their friends, and absorbed the knowledge cleverly integrated into each question. The whole class quickly settled into an exciting learning rhythm, confidently presenting their views, exchanging ideas, and engaging in debates.

Student Nguyen Duc Thinh said that the interactive lessons made him more interested in learning. "Not only this subject, but many other subjects at the school are also designed to enhance learning experiences, so we really enjoy them," Thinh shared.
Similarly, Huynh Thi Anh Duong said she always felt a positive atmosphere while studying at the school. According to Duong, the most outstanding feature is the close bond between teachers and students, which is built throughout from the first days of enrollment until graduation.
"Teachers not only impart knowledge but also listen, care for, and support us during important stages," Duong shared.
To maintain this connection, the school has established a suggestion box as a private and secure channel for students to express their thoughts and feelings. All feedback is directly received and responded to by the school administration.
Teachers' care is also demonstrated through everyday actions such as sending messages to check on students when they are feeling down, offering encouragement when they are under academic pressure, or providing counseling during the process of choosing a major or university. These seemingly small things contribute to building values of respect and sharing – the foundation of a happy school.

Ms. Hoai Phuong said she has shifted from a one-way, transmissive teaching method to empowering students to experience and explore . Instead of focusing heavily on exam results, she emphasizes helping students appreciate the value of life while creating a sense of psychological safety in the classroom.
"When students feel happy and respected, they learn more effectively. Therefore, I increase group activities, learning games, and encourage them to express their opinions and ask questions without fear of being wrong," Ms. Phuong said.
Furthermore, the rapid changes in the student generation amidst technological advancements also place new demands on teachers. Today's students have open minds and embrace technology early. Lessons must be engaging and relevant to real-world situations so that students find learning meaningful.
Speaking at the seminar "Improving Pedagogical Skills, Building Happy Schools" organized by Nguyen Van Thoai High School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang Phuong, lecturer at the Faculty of Educational Psychology, University of Education (Da Nang University), said that the most important "secret" lies in the teacher's energy. A happy teacher will spread positive emotions to students; when teachers enter the classroom with an open and enthusiastic attitude, students will feel connected and be more proactive in their learning.
"Happy teachers will create happy students," Ms. Hang Phuong emphasized.
Teachers change to "touch" the hearts of their students.
According to education experts, building happy schools is inseparable from understanding the psychology of students – young people growing up in a rapidly developing technological and social media environment. This requires change starting with the teachers themselves.

In her role as homeroom teacher, Ms. Hoai Phuong shifted from a managerial and authoritarian approach to one of accompanying and supporting students. Classroom rules were established on a democratic and transparent basis; students were treated fairly and with respect.
Positive discipline, along with extracurricular activities and creative experiences such as forums and games, are regularly organized, contributing to a friendly and cohesive learning environment.
The most noticeable change is in the students' attitudes and emotions towards learning. They are more proactive, confident in speaking up, debating, and collaborating with their peers. What makes me feel the most fulfilled in my profession is the connection and trust. From there, the distance between teacher and student is gradually being erased. Students no longer avoid the teacher's gaze, but instead share smiles and genuine sharing.
In the context of education in the 4.0 era, Ms. Phuong believes that artificial intelligence (AI) products are connecting tools if teachers know how to approach them correctly. Collaborating with students on video projects, creating educational content, or being willing to learn from students about technology has helped bridge the generation gap, fostering equality and respect in the classroom.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Quang Khai, Deputy Secretary of the School's Youth Union, emphasized that building a "Happy School" requires genuine coordination among educational forces. According to him, the role of the School's Youth Union should not be limited to monitoring and evaluating performance, but should also become a partner and supporter of homeroom teachers in educating students' behavior.
In fact, when discipline is viewed as an educational opportunity rather than a punishment, many students have shown positive changes.
"Creating an environment where students can develop their strengths through extracurricular activities and experiences is considered an effective way to 'shift energy channels,' helping students find their self-worth and become more connected to the group," Mr. Khai said.

From a management perspective, Mr. Le Manh Tan, Vice Principal of Nguyen Van Thoai High School, recognizes that the biggest challenge today is the ever-expanding "world" of students in the digital age. Therefore, teachers cannot simply be transmitters of knowledge but need to become empathetic guides.
"The generation gap is widening due to the technological divide. If teachers don't understand trends and aren't familiar with the digital space students live in, it will be very difficult to reach their hearts," Mr. Tan said.
Therefore, the school aims to guide teachers to both set an example in digital competence and build a positive online culture, so that discipline is enforced with love and respect.
From inspiring lessons to the quiet support of teachers, the "Happy School" model at Nguyen Van Thoai High School is being nurtured from simple things. It's a journey where each teacher is not alone, each student is listened to, so that the school truly becomes a place that fosters knowledge, character, and positive emotions for the younger generation.
