In the first months of 2025, Ha Tinh industry welcomed great joy when the VinES-Gotion Lithium Battery Joint Venture Factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone (EZ) went into production and produced the first cell battery products. This is a new step forward, making an important contribution to the province's industry, contributing to increasing budget revenue and economic growth in general.

In addition, key industrial projects also have positive signals such as: Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant has basically completed and put into trial operation unit 1; VinES Battery Factory has installed additional line 2, increasing capacity from 130,000 to 230,000 packs/year; VinFast Electric Car Factory is focusing on construction; Vinhomes Vung Ang Industrial Park is carrying out compensation and site clearance work...

A highlight in socio-economic development is that at the end of March 2025, the Vietnam Maritime Administration ( Ministry of Construction ) issued a decision to announce the opening of wharf No. 3 - Vung Ang port (belonging to Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company), marking another step in the development of Ha Tinh's logistics infrastructure. On the afternoon of April 28, the port inauguration ceremony was held with the participation of General Secretary and President of the Lao PDR Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong and senior leaders of the two countries.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Director of Lao - Viet International Port Joint Stock Company said: "The operation of Wharf No. 3 will improve the cargo handling capacity of the unit, increasing the scale from 2 to 3 wharves with a total cargo handling capacity of nearly 7 million tons, thereby contributing greatly to the development of enterprises, the development of Vung Ang Economic Zone in particular and Ha Tinh socio-economic development in general".

According to the Department of Finance, with the active participation of the entire political system, the efforts of the business community and the people, the socio-economic situation in the first third of the year of the province has achieved positive results in many fields.

State budget revenue in the area in the first 4 months is estimated at 6,615 billion VND, reaching 37% of the estimate. Disbursement of public investment capital by April 23, 2025 reached 1,158 billion VND, equal to 25.4% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister. Industrial production index is estimated to increase by 2.2% over the same period last year. Vibrant trade and service activities brought retail sales of goods to more than 29,295 billion VND, up more than 10% over the same period last year. Tourism flourished with the total number of visitors expected to reach over 1 million in 4 months. Agricultural production remained stable, continuing to play the role of a pillar of the economy.

Along with the above results, the task of building the province to meet the new rural standards was directed strongly and created a vibrant atmosphere among the people. The work of removing obstacles to hand over the site to investors and contractors to implement important projects was focused on, contributing to ensuring progress.

In the first 4 months of the year, nearly 680 enterprises were newly established and re-entered the market; 9 domestic investment projects and 2 foreign investment projects were approved in principle.

In particular, right after the Government “assigned” the growth target from 8%, Ha Tinh determined that this was not only a target to strive for but also a “legislative” target. Therefore, all resources and motivations for growth were mobilized and “activated” to the maximum. In the context of many difficulties in the first quarter, GRDP growth still reached 6.5%, which is a positive signal and a driving force to promote growth in the following quarters.

The results achieved are not only reflected in economic development indicators but also in the improvement in the fields of culture - society, ensuring national defense and security. Education is proud of its third place in the country in terms of winning rate at the national excellent student exam in 2024-2025. High-performance sports continue to achieve many results at the national and international levels.

The work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health is focused on; the work of solving employment, social security, and eliminating dilapidated and temporary houses is carried out promptly, synchronously and effectively. The task of arranging the organization and administrative units at all levels is implemented synchronously, in accordance with the direction and guidance of the Central Government, ensuring streamlining, effective and efficient operations.

Localities in Ha Tinh have deployed to collect people's opinions on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in an objective and democratic spirit.

Create a "boost" for the economy

In 2025, in addition to the economic growth target of 8%, Ha Tinh also sets many ambitious targets such as: total social investment capital of over 50,000 billion VND, GRDP per capita of 93 million VND, budget revenue of 17,800 billion VND, poverty rate reduced by 0.5-0.6%... The tasks in the coming time are extremely heavy, requiring all levels and sectors to be highly determined, make great efforts, take more drastic and effective actions to exploit the space, mobilize maximum resources to promote growth and achieve the highest targets.

It is forecasted that the context in the coming time will still have many difficulties when the world situation continues to develop unpredictably, the domestic economy is still under inflationary pressure; prices of many input factors and production costs are high. To achieve the goals set for 2025 and the entire 2020-2025 term, especially economic growth, in the coming time, sectors and localities need to continue to promote industrial production, support enterprises to overcome difficulties, stabilize production and business, and put projects under implementation into operation soon; diversify trade promotion activities, stimulate consumption to prepare for the tourist season; resolutely collect budget revenue, prevent revenue loss due to tax evasion, tax fraud and tax arrears; accelerate disbursement of public investment capital; continue to review and update growth scenarios for the following quarters to proactively and flexibly deploy solutions.
