The Vietnamese class of 5B students at Le Thi Hong Gam Primary School (Cu Sue Commune, Cu M'gar District) is very exciting thanks to the skillful integration of Vietnamese language enhancement activities by the teacher.
The lesson opened with the familiar melody of the song “Earth Song” performed by the students themselves. Familiar Vietnamese words such as “earth”, “us”, “planet”… were naturally sung by the students in the song, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere.
After an energetic warm-up, Ms. Le Thi Thom, the homeroom teacher, continued to guide the students to delve deeper into the meanings of related words to introduce new words and expand their knowledge through questions on the topic of environmental protection...
H Nghia Eban, a 5th grade student at the school, expressed that the lessons at school are very interesting with open activities (dancing, singing in Vietnamese, aerobics to Vietnamese songs, etc.). When coming home from school, she often tells her mother about the lesson and the new Vietnamese words she learned at school that day.

Ea Tu Kindergarten (Ea Tu Commune, Buon Ma Thuot City) has about 50% of students who are ethnic minorities. The work of enhancing Vietnamese language is carried out systematically from the school plan to the individual plan of each teacher with accompanying equipment and teaching aids to create a friendly environment for children to be exposed to and practice Vietnamese in the most natural way.
The Provincial People's Committee sets a target: by 2025, at least 50% of ethnic minority children of nursery age and 95% of ethnic minority children of preschool age (of which 100% are ethnic minoritychildren in preschools) will receive age-appropriate Vietnamese language enhancement; 100% of ethnic minority primary school students will receive Vietnamese language enhancement. |
In the school yard and in each classroom, teachers and students can easily find a lively decorated "Vietnamese enhancement corner"; school supplies and trees are labeled with Vietnamese names to encourage students to read and memorize; teachers often organize word guessing games and name objects in Vietnamese to help the learning process be light and interesting.
According to teachers, the biggest difficulty is that Vietnamese is not the main language of communication in daily life and communication in the village and community of many students. Therefore, they often encounter confusion when trying to present their ideas.
With 31 years of experience working and directly teaching many generations of students in a school with 100% ethnic minority students, Ms. Le Thi Thom, homeroom teacher of class 5B, Le Thi Hong Gam Primary School (Cu M'gar district) believes that teachers must promote their leading and supporting roles in educational activities.
Specifically: increase the amount of practice time through exercises and language games; design a “reading corner” in the classroom; “free reading time” or “telling stories about good books”; storytelling competitions based on pictures, role-playing in stories; “Ring the Golden Bell” competitions with questions about vocabulary and grammar; encourage students to answer questions fully and express their ideas in other subjects (Math, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, etc.).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, Principal of Ea Tu Kindergarten (Ea Tu Commune, Buon Ma Thuot City) pays much attention to coordinating with families and the community in enhancing Vietnamese language for students.
Specifically, implementing Vietnamese language familiarization classes, cultural exchanges at schools; guiding parents to communicate with their children in Vietnamese, teaching children in Vietnamese at home; working with local authorities to organize and encourage children to participate in festivals in villages and hamlets...
The school also coordinates with organizations, unions, and sponsors to advise local authorities on rewarding and supporting disadvantaged ethnic minority students to go to school...
