BHG - With the advantage of being a border province, in recent years, the province has always paid attention to and invested in upgrading border gates in the area. In particular, Ha Giang province has recently coordinated with Yunnan province (China) to open international road passenger and cargo transport routes. Thereby, opening up opportunities to promote the economic development of the province's border gates.
On August 4, the first passenger and cargo container trucks completed customs clearance procedures for entry and exit at the Xin Man - Do Long border gate pair. After 3 years of closure due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Xin Man - Do Long border gate is bustling with the sound of trucks again, promising to bring many positive signals to the border trade economy. This is an activity to concretize the policy of the two governments, supplemented by the Agreement between the Ministry of Transport of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China signed on December 30, 2022.

The opening of the Vietnam-China international passenger and freight road route is a major event, marking an important milestone in promoting the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation and exchange relations between the two localities of Ha Giang and Yunnan. At the same time, it contributes to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China. In addition, it creates an important premise for businesses of the two countries to strengthen trade relations and export goods, contributing to maintaining the growth momentum of trade turnover. Deputy Director of the Department of Transport Nguyen Thu Thuy emphasized at the opening ceremony of the two Vietnam-China international passenger and freight road routes: The opening of the two international passenger and freight road routes will meet the needs of people on both sides to visit relatives and work across the border; facilitate the transportation of goods, contributing to the further development of the economy, trade and tourism of the two sides. Cooperation for mutual development in the field of transport is the desire not only of Ha Giang province and Yunnan province in particular, but also of the governments of the two countries.
Mr. Tuong Kien Hong, representative of the Department of Transport of Yunnan Province (China) also affirmed: The opening ceremony at the border gate has demonstrated that the development of border trade, logistics and tourism between Yunnan Province (China) and Ha Giang Province (Vietnam) has entered a new stage. Implementing international road transport, opening passenger and cargo transport routes is an opportunity for development, promoting the advantages of each side, promoting cooperation, deepening cooperation and improving the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides.
The Ha Giang - Thanh Thuy International Border Gate (Vietnam) - Thien Bao - Van Son Border Gate (China) route is an international road passenger and cargo transport route between the border areas of the two countries from Ha Giang to Thanh Thuy International Border Gate (Vietnam) - Thien Bao (China) to Van Son district and vice versa. For the Ha Giang - Xin Man Border Gate (Vietnam) - Do Long - Van Son Border Gate (China) route, this is an international road passenger and cargo transport route between the border areas of the two countries from Ha Giang to Xin Man Border Gate (Vietnam) - Do Long Border Gate (China) to Van Son district and vice versa. Mr. Tran Tuan, Deputy General Director of Van Son Transport Group Company (China) shared: As a group operating in the field of transportation, I am very happy that the border gate route between the two provinces has been opened. In the coming time, our Group will reopen the passenger and cargo transport route for Ha Giang province (Vietnam). We hope that the relevant agencies of both sides will have appropriate policies to create conditions for businesses to develop together, bringing benefits to the people of both countries.
The Department of Transport is the unit that issues transport licenses for vehicles participating in transport activities on the transport route in the border area between the two countries. Regarding the scope and operating routes: Vehicles granted a Vietnam - China international road transport license are allowed to operate transport between the two countries in the form of point-to-point; exit and entry at the same border gate; are allowed to stop at bus stations, parking lots, rest stops along the announced route... Therefore, after opening the two Vietnam - China international road passenger and freight transport routes at the two pairs of Thanh Thuy - Thien Bao and Xin Man - Do Long International Border Gate, the Departments of Transport of the two provinces will have agreements on general regulations for implementation, put into effective exploitation to enhance development cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.
