FPT Corporation and Sarawak Digital Economy Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding

ANTD.VN - FPT and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), a Malaysian state-owned enterprise, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote Sarawak state to become the leading digital economy in the region.

The signing ceremony took place in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of Mr. Minda James, Director of Digital Economy Project of SDEC (left), Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Deputy General Director of FPT and General Director of FPT Software (right), and senior leaders from both sides.

This is an important step forward, affirming FPT's capacity to provide IT services in the public sector as well as the group's commitment to promoting innovation throughout the Southeast Asian region.

As a strategic technology partner of SDEC, FPT will work with SDEC to develop and commercialize advanced solutions and intellectual property specifically for the digital ecosystem of Sarawak. The two parties focus on key areas including e- government , smart cities, healthcare, energy, and cybersecurity, to enhance Sarawak’s digital infrastructure and competitiveness.

Leveraging its expertise and global presence, FPT will support SDEC in building Sarawak’s digital ecosystem through talent training and startup incubation programs. In addition, FPT will collaborate with local universities and technical colleges to design training programs, specialized courses and internship programs to equip professionals with the necessary skills in software development, data analytics and artificial intelligence. This strategy of FPT combined with SDEC’s local expertise is expected to create abundant human resources and promote Sarawak’s digital economy, while strengthening FPT’s presence in this market.

Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Deputy General Director of FPT Corporation and General Director of FPT Software, shared: "With nearly two decades of operation in Malaysia, FPT has affirmed its position as a reliable technology partner of many large corporations here. Among the states of Malaysia, Sarawak plays a driving role in promoting digital transformation and economic growth of the whole country. When combined with FPT's extensive expertise and high-quality human resources, we believe that the two sides will jointly develop advanced solutions based on AI and next-generation technology, not only helping to solve important challenges in Malaysia but also across the Southeast Asia region."

Meanwhile, Mr. Sudarnoto Osman, Director General of SDEC affirmed that this strategic move shows Sarawak’s growing commitment to promoting the digital economy, a key factor in the region’s future economic development.

“Especially by leveraging technology to drive growth, enhance productivity and encourage innovation, we hope that this partnership will empower both parties to deliver cutting-edge solutions that not only meet but exceed the evolving needs of our customers and stakeholders,” said Mr. Sudarnoto.

Entering the Malaysian market in 2006, FPT has quickly become a comprehensive IT services company with MSC certification, a title awarded by the Malaysian government to companies that have made significant contributions to the country's digital economy. With more than 1,300 experts working directly and remotely in this market, FPT provides a range of end-to-end digital solutions and consulting services in AI, managed services and Cloud, serving high-growth industries in Malaysia such as finance - banking, energy - utilities, healthcare and public services.

According to its development strategy, FPT aims to recruit about 300-500 more experts in Malaysia within the next five years and establish a Global Service Center in Sarawak to meet the growing needs of customers in East Malaysia and Brunei.
