Training course "Application of AI in multi-platform journalism skills"

On November 13 and 14, in Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province, the Center for Journalism Training (Vietnam Journalists Association) coordinated with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association to organize a training course on "Application of AI in multi-platform journalism skills".

The training course was attended by nearly 40 officers, reporters, and editors from press agencies in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak provinces, and Da Nang City. The direct lecturer was Journalist Dang Sinh - Editor of Thanh Nien Newspaper.

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Mr. Doan Minh Long - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association said that in the context of strong digital transformation, newsrooms are gradually digitizing all activities, in which the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is an inevitable trend.

The class aims to help students approach and apply AI to their work, thereby optimizing the production process of press products, thereby gradually improving content quality and increasing interaction with readers.

Over the two days, students were equipped with fundamental knowledge and practiced with AI tools, focusing on automating the production process of journalistic products, improving the quality of images and videos , and analyzing big data to quickly grasp news trends.

The class aims to help journalists build and develop a multi-platform journalism mindset in the context of the explosion of Gen AI (generative artificial intelligence). From there, students can master the skills of creating and developing a journalism channel on platforms and distributing content on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok; master the skills of applying AI to create and automate multi-platform journalism content production processes (writing, design, video, post-production); and at the same time, they can create their own virtual assistants, websites and applications to use immediately for each specific task.

According to journalist Dang Sinh, applying AI in journalism brings many practical benefits, but also poses many challenges regarding professional ethics, content quality, information verification and impact on employment. Therefore, exploiting AI must go hand in hand with caution, responsibility and ensuring accuracy and objectivity in each journalistic product.
