After 4 days and nights of intense troubleshooting, on the evening of November 10, the train whistle sounded at the landslide area on the railway line through Xuan Lanh commune. The first trains passed safely, marking the return of passenger and freight transport activities on the country's vital railway line.

The joy of the train being cleared was evident on the faces of hundreds of workers. Nguyen Minh Thu, a worker involved in troubleshooting, shared: “Over the past few days, we have had almost no time to rest. The road was slippery and the terrain was complicated, but everyone encouraged each other to try. Because we understand that if we were even a little slower, the train would be delayed, affecting passengers and goods.”

Previously, on the evening of November 6, due to the impact of storm No. 13, floodwaters rose and rocks and soil slid down, causing the railway foundation to break at Km 1136+850 - Km 1136+920, disrupting railway transport operations. The railway industry had to mobilize human resources to fix the landslide, and at the same time transfer passengers between stations due to the impact of the storm. The contractor urgently opened a service road connecting National Highway 19C to the landslide area, creating conditions for trucks to transport materials. Along with that, trains carrying rocks and technical materials were also arranged to run to both ends of the landslide, shortening the supply time and speeding up the construction progress.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vuong, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation , said: “As soon as the incident occurred, Vietnam Railway Corporation mobilized about 300 officers and workers from three units: Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company, Thuan Hai and Nghia Binh. For 96 consecutive hours, all engineers and workers worked day and night. Surveying, measuring terrain and adjusting technical plans were carried out continuously to ensure the highest accuracy and safety.”

According to Vietnam Railway Corporation, phase 1 has been implemented with the goal of opening the route as quickly as possible. Phase 2 will continue to construct fixed items and permanently reinforce the roadbed, ensuring long-term safety and sustainability for the North-South railway line.

Along with the efforts of the railway industry, the road management force in Dak Lak also accelerated the repair of damage and landslides on many national and provincial highways.

It is recorded that after storm No. 13, many national highways have damaged road surfaces, potholes, and mud with an area of nearly 1,800 m²; a cross-culvert was severely eroded. On provincial roads such as DT.642, DT.644, DT.646..., the road surface has been sporadically eroded, road teams are still continuing to check and handle small damaged spots to ensure traffic safety. On commune roads, militia forces and local people have been proactively clearing landslides, fallen trees, and clearing drainage ditches.

On National Highway 1 through Dak Lak, the road surface has been damaged more after storm No. 13. Maintenance contractors are speeding up repairs to ensure project progress and maintain traffic safety. Workers and machinery are mobilized to the maximum, working continuously, especially at steep mountain passes with high traffic volume.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Director of Road Management Area III, said: “Currently, two key road maintenance projects are being implemented on National Highway 1 through Dak Lak. In addition to repairing damaged road surfaces, the unit requires contractors to strengthen traffic regulation at dangerous points, and at the same time arrange adequate human resources and materials for construction as soon as the weather permits.”
