Training on operating plastic waste reduction tours in Hue

VHO - On the afternoon of July 25, Hue College of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and relevant parties organized a training program on procedures aimed at standardizing the operation of plastic waste reduction tours.

Trainees participate in a training program on operating plastic waste reduction tours in Hue.

The activity is one of the contents in developing a tour that says no to plastic waste, contributing to building green, clean and sustainable Hue tourism.

The training session was attended by experts and consultants of plastic waste reduction tours with the support of the project "Hue - Plastic-reducing City in Central Vietnam" (TVA/WWF-Vietnam).

More than 30 trainees including tour guides, tour operators, drivers and service providers participated in the training program.

In particular, focusing on contents such as: identifying sources of plastic waste in tourism itineraries; skills in organizing and communicating plastic-reducing tours; coordination between operational stages such as: tour guides, tour operators, drivers and service providers.

The training session is the result of consultation with experts in the field of sustainable tourism, representatives of travel agencies, tour operators, tour guides and lecturers specializing in travel and guiding.

Tourists experience community tourism in Ngu My Thanh - Con Toc associated with the model of reducing plastic waste

Up to now, in Hue city, there are tours associated with reducing plastic waste such as: community tourism in Thuy Bieu, Thanh Toan tile bridge, community tourism in Ngu My Thanh - Con Toc, community tourism in Dam Chuon.

According to experts, the number of tours that effectively apply the plastic waste reduction model is still limited. Replicating the community-based tour model associated with plastic waste reduction requires closer cooperation from travel companies.

Recently, Hue College of Tourism has participated in operating a number of pilot tours and is continuing to strengthen coordination with travel agencies to deploy more tours to reduce plastic waste.

Through this training session, the school will have more preparation to join hands with other parties to operate a plastic reduction tour in a systematic and standardized manner; at the same time, spread awareness of environmental protection to the community and tourists.
