Bustling construction of runway number 2 at Long Thanh airport super project

According to VTC News reporters in mid-June, at the "big construction site" of Long Thanh airport, many important items such as the passenger terminal, runway 2, aircraft parking lot and ground service vehicle parking lot are being urgently constructed.

At the construction site of runway 2, the contractor is currently mobilizing many machines and workers to pour rocks, level the ground and shape the route.

Runway No. 2 of Long Thanh airport has a total investment of about 3,300 billion VND, is 4km long, 45m wide, and is located about 400m north of runway No. 1.

According to calculations by Vietnam Airlines Corporation - ACV, the investment cost for this runway is completely balanced within the total investment of component project 3 invested by the unit, so it does not increase the total capital of the project.

Regarding the project, as of June 10, the total volume of stone brought to the construction site reached more than 1.3 million m³, while the registered demand for stone materials for 2025 is over 4.9 million m³.

Thus, the current volume of stone materials is still 3.5 million m³ short of the registered demand. The component projects and connecting traffic routes 1, 2, 4 must be completed at least 3 months before the official exploitation date to ensure time for trial operation.

About 400m to the north, Long Thanh Airport's runway No. 1, 4km long and 70m wide, has been completed. This is one of the items in package 4.6, with a total value of more than 7,000 billion VND, including items such as taxiways, connecting taxiways, rapid exit taxiways, aircraft parking lots and parking lots for ground service vehicles.

According to Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha, all four component projects at Long Thanh airport are currently being accelerated. Component project 4, including the catering area and aircraft maintenance house (hangar), is currently being accelerated. The investor is committed to completing all items in 2025.

On June 15, Vietnam Airlines and its member units officially started two large-scale aviation service projects at Long Thanh airport, including the No. 1 Aviation Catering Project and the No. 1 Aircraft Maintenance Service Construction and Trading Project. The total investment of the two projects is nearly VND 1,800 billion, with Vietnam Air Catering Services Company Limited (VACS) and Vietnam Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (VAECO) as investors.

Along with other component projects, package 5.10 - construction of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal is also being urgently constructed. At the construction site, thousands of workers, equipment and machinery are working continuously in three shifts, day and night. Long Thanh airport is one of the key national transport infrastructure projects, expected to become the largest international aviation gateway in the country in the future.
