Focus on directing and operating effective socio-economic development

DTO - In the first months of 2025, the People's Committee of Hong Ngu district focused on directing and implementing many important tasks according to the programs and plans of the provincial and local People's Committees. Thereby, the economic , social, national defense and security sectors in the first 4 months of 2025 continued to achieve positive results, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in border areas.

Pangasius farming for export is one of the strengths in economic development of Hong Ngu district.

As of April 2025, Hong Ngu district has planted more than 10,600 hectares of winter-spring rice for the 2024-2025 crop (100% of the plan). Up to now, nearly 9,800 hectares have been harvested (92%) and the average yield is 7.3 tons/ha, the selling price ranges from 6,450 VND - 8,000 VND/kg. Summer-autumn rice has been planted on 5,934/10,668.3 hectares, of which the rice area at the seedling stage is 6,000 hectares. The locality has implemented the model of "Safe rice production linkage fields according to the value chain" for the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop with a scale of 400 hectares in Thuong Lac commune (200 hectares) and Thuong Thoi Hau A commune (200 hectares).

As a result, the model in Thuong Lac commune achieved a yield of 7.5 - 8 tons/ha, a selling price of 6,300 - 6,500 VND/kg, an average profit of 26.5 million VND/ha; the model in Thuong Thoi Hau A commune achieved a yield of 8 tons/ha, a selling price of 6,200 - 6,300 VND/kg, an average profit of 24.5 million VND/ha (higher than the rice area outside the model by about 1.1 million VND/ha at the time of harvest). The aquaculture area is 535.98ha, the harvested output in the first 4 months of 2025 is more than 24,375 tons including: pangasius, red tilapia, snakehead fish, eel. The production of pangasius fry and fingerlings of all kinds is more than 4,804 million (mainly pangasius fry).

The cultural and social fields of Hong Ngu district continue to flourish. Notably, the work of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period under contracts has received attention from sectors and localities. Through propaganda and career counseling, from the beginning of 2025 to present, Hong Ngu district has 75/170 workers going abroad (reaching 44.12%) to work in the markets: Japan, Korea and Taiwan. In addition, the locality has 59 workers who have passed the exam and are waiting to go abroad and nearly 60 workers are studying orientation to participate in the Program of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period under contracts. Schools in the area have selected many teachers to participate in the Dong Thap Province Primary School Excellent Teacher Competition for the 2024-2025 school year. As a result, 8 teachers have won the title of "Provincial-level Excellent Teacher", including 2 teachers who have won the title of "Golden Chalk". The education sector of Hong Ngu district has organized a ceremony to commend and reward teachers with outstanding achievements through competitions organized by the province.

With many advantages and potentials of the locality, tourist areas and spots in Hong Ngu district welcomed nearly 16,000 visitors to visit, have fun, and enjoy cuisine at Tien River Sandbank (Long Khanh A commune); Long Khanh A commune's robe weaving village; Tien Dinh eco-tourism site (Phu Thuan A commune) associated with organizing old markets; Long Thuan commune's rural market. Total revenue from tourism activities in the first 4 months of 2025 is about 2 billion VND. In particular, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with border units and localities, including Hong Ngu district, to organize the experience tour "Cu Lao Long Khanh - Echoes from the past" at Long Khanh A commune's robe weaving village tourist site, initially attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience. The District Department of Culture, Science and Information coordinated with communes and towns to organize the 2025 Hong Ngu District Mass Art Performance with 10 teams performing 33 acts. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 34 prizes, of which the First Team Prize went to Long Khanh A Commune, the Second Prize went to Thuong Thoi Tien Town, and the 2 Third Prizes went to Thuong Lac Commune and Long Khanh B Commune.

In the coming time, the People's Committee of Hong Ngu district will continue to direct and implement socio-economic development, maintaining security and order in the locality. In particular, focusing on planting the summer-autumn rice crop in 2025 in conjunction with doing a good job of preventing and controlling plant diseases. Speeding up the construction progress to complete works and put them into use, completing payment procedures in accordance with regulations, especially ensuring the disbursement rate of public investment capital meets the target assigned by the province. Along with that, inspecting and urging the People's Committees of communes and towns to collect land use fees, cluster house foundation fees, residential lines, land rental fees for alluvial land, upgrading production dikes... according to the set plan. Strengthening the propaganda of the program of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period under contracts, vocational training, and job introduction for rural workers. At the same time, mobilizing many resources to implement and complete the Program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the district ahead of schedule compared to the plan set by the province.
