Tay Ninh: Opening of a series of activities to celebrate major holidays

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh - Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee for activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and Liberation of Tay Ninh Province; Mr. Vo Duc Trong - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh - Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that this is a practical activity of the province together with the whole country to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; an opportunity for us to be proud of the heroic historical journey of the nation, deeply grateful for the great contributions of generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the development of Tay Ninh; this is also an opportunity to introduce to the people and tourists inside and outside the province the outstanding results and achievements of Tay Ninh province over the past 50 years.

At the ceremony, the acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee approved the economic, political and social situation of Tay Ninh after 50 years. Accordingly, in the early years after liberation, Tay Ninh was still a purely agricultural province, the economy mainly relied on small-scale agricultural production, the average income per capita was only about 200 USD/year in the 1980s, by 2025 it is estimated to reach 4,632 USD/year (about 115 million VND), an increase of more than 23 times compared to the early period of renovation. The economic growth rate (GRDP) of the province in the period of 2020-2025 will reach an average of over 7%/year, in 2024 alone it will reach 8.45%, higher than the average.

The economic structure has shifted positively, the proportion of industry - construction and services is increasing. Agriculture is developing in a modern direction, applying high technology to bring economic value, sustainable environment for the whole country. Tay Ninh and the whole country promote international integration, promote industrialization and modernization, industrial production continues to play a key role, contributing significantly to growth.

The education and training sector has made remarkable progress. The work of caring for and protecting people's health has been increasingly focused on and improved, with the health insurance coverage rate reaching over 92%.

Social security is guaranteed, the poverty rate has decreased sharply from over 30% (in 1992) to 0.13% in 2024 - among the lowest in the country. In particular, in 2025, the province is determined to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. Cultural, physical education and sports activities are carried out regularly and abundantly, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people.

National defense and security are maintained, national border sovereignty is guaranteed. Foreign affairs are strengthened and developed.

The series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and Tay Ninh will take place from April 25 to May 2, 2025, with 5 main activities: photo exhibition; display of artifacts, products... reflecting economic, cultural, social, defense and security achievements; organize a Trade and Industry Fair, OCOP products and regional specialties of the province; organize a space to display intangible cultural heritage; especially an art program and fireworks display on the evening of April 29, 2025.
