Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Lam and the working delegation inspected the actual situation in Nhon Hoa Lap commune.

According to Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh, in recent days, due to the combined effects of flood water and high tides, the water level on canals in the Dong Thap Muoi area has continuously increased rapidly, with an average rise of 3-5 cm per day and night. In many locations, the measured water level has fallen by about 32 cm compared to the 2024 flood peak.

Faced with the situation of continuously rising floodwaters, many weak dykes in the area are at risk of overflowing and breaking, directly affecting rice and fruit growing areas. Specifically, in Nhon Hoa Lap commune, about 460 hectares, Khanh Hung 310 hectares, Vinh Hung 210 hectares, Tuyen Binh 230 hectares of rice... are under direct threat, with many risks of damage.

Actual records on canals such as T1, T1, canal 1/6... water level is about 2 m higher than the field surface. In many locations, the water is level with the dike surface and can cause the dike to overflow and break at any time. In these localities, people have proactively reinforced the dike to protect agricultural production. However, in the face of the situation of continuously rising floodwaters, thousands of hectares of agricultural land are under direct threat.

Many weak dike positions are being reinforced to prevent floods and protect production.

Faced with this situation, Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam - Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee requested the agricultural sector and local authorities to urgently mobilize human resources and equipment to reinforce the weak dyke positions. This work needs to be completed within the next 2-3 days to minimize damage to agricultural production caused by floodwaters.

In the long term, localities need to closely coordinate with sectors to review, invest in construction and upgrade dike lines to protect production in the area. Units and localities also need to strengthen propaganda and advise people to sow rice on schedule to minimize damage, especially in areas outside the dike.
