Honoring 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers and 32 scientists of farmers

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, said that, promoting the tradition of 95 years of establishment and development, the Farmers' Union at all levels has always been proactive, creative, and active in organizing patriotic emulation movements, typically the movement of farmers competing in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably, the movement of cadres and farmer members actively participating in collective economic development in agriculture. It has been affirming its important role in organizing and mobilizing members and farmers to actively participate in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security; with the goal of forming green rural livelihoods - digital agriculture - value chains, contributing to the successful implementation of the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas, building a strong Vietnam.

Mr. Luong Quoc Doan added that the outstanding Vietnamese farmers of 2025 are shining examples, typical and advanced with impressive achievements in production and business; in the movement to build new rural areas, the movement of the whole people participating in protecting the security of the Fatherland. They are also farmers with many initiatives, creativity, inventions that have been applied, bringing high economic and social efficiency.

This year's outstanding farmers are very diverse in many fields, especially the emergence of outstanding farmers in eco-tourism, developing circular agricultural economic models, developing OCOP products, forming multi-value production chains. Many farmers, through their diligence and hard work, have become billionaires, some with incomes of hundreds of billions of VND each year, creating jobs for hundreds of workers. There have been farmers with very large production areas and production links, especially rice growing areas, with linked areas ranging from several dozen to hundreds of hectares. Those results must certainly be forged from patriotism, dedication, self-reliance and responsibility for the community of Vietnamese farmers.

With 32 Farmers' Scientists in 2025, selected through many nomination rounds and many different introduction channels, they are the most outstanding scientists in various fields; have made important contributions in scientific research, creating new varieties of plants and animals; researching and improving processes, bringing scientific and technical advances, modern technology into production; working with diligent, creative, hard-working farmers to create golden harvests.

“This year’s 6th ceremony to honor the title of Farmer Scientist is even more meaningful as the Politburo has just issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation. The contributions of scientists are the decisive factor in creating breakthroughs in the fields of agriculture, farmers and rural areas. The decision to concurrently award the title to an outstanding farmer and a farmer scientist has profound meaning, demonstrating the close, dialectical, and mutual connection between the “two houses” - scientists and farmers”, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan emphasized.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2025 are selected based on 4 main criteria groups: Agricultural production, business, and services; Farmers with outstanding achievements in the new rural construction movement; Farmers with outstanding achievements in the movement of the People to protect national security and sovereignty; Have scientific initiatives and inventions that have been applied and brought high economic and social efficiency...

Of these, there are 54 male farmers and 9 female farmers; including 4 outstanding farmers representing ethnic minorities. Classified by groups, in terms of agricultural production, business and services: 31 farmers; Achievements in the movement to build new rural areas and protect national security: 27 farmers; Initiatives and inventions in agricultural production: 5 farmers.

The youngest outstanding farmer is Mr. Nguyen Tung Duong, 25 years old (born in 2000) from Lang Chanh village, Tam Duong Bac commune, Phu Tho province with a model of making yellow flower tea and trading seedlings with a profit of 1.2 billion VND/year; The oldest outstanding farmer is Mr. Chu Van Sam, 77 years old (born in 1948) from Dong Danh village, An Nghia commune, Phu Tho province with a model of raising dairy cows and business services with a profit of 1.4 billion VND/year.

The farmer with the highest revenue is Ho Phi Thuy (Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province) with a pearl farming model combined with eco-tourism, a production area of 1,000 hectares, producing 320,000 pearls/year with revenue of 95 - 150 billion VND; the second is farmer Nguyen Chi Linh (to Ap Bo Cang, Long Dien commune, Ca Mau province) with a white-leg shrimp farming model, with revenue of 90 billion VND/year.

For the 32 Farmer Scientists in 2025, there are 27 male scientists and 5 female scientists. The youngest Farmer Scientist: 35 years old (born in 1990) is Mr. Nguyen Khanh Toan, Tay ethnic group from the Center for Science and Technology (Department of Science and Technology of Lang Son province); The oldest scientist: 87 years old (born in 1938) is Prof. Dr. Mai Van Quyen - Chairman of the Science and Technology Council of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company. Most of the Farmer Scientists have a university degree or higher, of which 11 scientists have a doctorate degree; 6 scientists have the title of Professor, Associate Professor.

Many scientists have good inventions and innovations such as: Invention of automatic cassava cutting machine using solar energy by Mr. Pham Van Thanh (Krong Pa, Gia Lai); Invention of mouse trap without bait and crescent-shaped bird repeller by Mr. Tran Quang Thieu - Executive Committee member of Vietnam Mechanical Association from Thuong Tin, Hanoi; Invention of automatic cassava cutting machine using solar energy by Mr. Pham Van Thanh (Gia Lai); intensive crab farming model by Mr. Nguyen Viet Bac (Ca Mau).

Proud of Vietnamese Farmers is a major and annual program of the Vietnam Farmers' Association. Over the past 12 years, the Program has always received attention and high appreciation from leaders of the Party, State, central and local departments, ministries, branches, as well as the public opinion.
The 2025 Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program continues to be a meaningful activity to implement Resolution 46-NQ/TW dated December 20, 2023 of the Politburo on innovation and improving the quality of activities of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to meet the requirements of revolutionary tasks in the new period and the Resolution of the 8th National Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 2023-2028 term.

In particular, this year's program is even more meaningful as it takes place on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2025). In addition to honoring outstanding farmers, this year's program also honors scientists with outstanding contributions in the field of agriculture. This is an affirmation of the close relationship between farmers and intellectuals - where science and technology become the "key", and farmers are the central driving force in the journey to develop modern, integrated and sustainable Vietnamese agriculture.
