Thai Nguyen gives tablets as 'Tet gifts' to poor students

In addition to the general Tet gifts, students from poor families and those in especially difficult circumstances were also given tablets by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province for online learning.

The program of giving tablets and learning equipment to poor students combined with giving Tet gifts to poor households in especially difficult circumstances is a new point during the Lunar New Year 2022 in Thai Nguyen province.

Most recently, on January 24, during a trip to give Tet gifts to poor households in Than Sa commune (Vo Nhai district), Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee Trinh Viet Hung presented 25 tablets to students of Than Sa Primary and Secondary School. These are children from families with especially difficult circumstances who cannot afford to buy devices for their children to study online.

Mr. Trinh Viet Hung said that giving tablets to children in poor and especially disadvantaged families is an activity within the Waves and Computers for Children program, implemented throughout Thai Nguyen province.

The first goal of the program is to support and fully equip learning devices to help students have the conditions to fully participate in online learning in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic when they cannot go to school directly; at the same time, carry out digital transformation in the education sector in Thai Nguyen.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province also directed the installation of 4G stations, completing 100% coverage of hamlets, and supporting students in installing online learning software to ensure network safety and security.

Previously, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province implemented the program Waves and computers for children, donating 3,099 tablets to students from poor households, especially those with special difficulties who do not have online learning equipment, at the request of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen province.

Accordingly, Thai Nguyen established 18 working groups to directly give tablets and visit and wish happy new year to policy families and poor households on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger.
