The exploration and excavation site is the land area between Tower K and the central tower group of My Son Temple Complex, Duy Phu Commune, Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province.
According to the decision, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board in coordination with the Institute of Archaeology will excavate 5 holes on an area of 770m2 ; the exploration area is 20m2 , including 5 holes: from hole TD1 to hole TD5.
The objective of this archaeological exploration and excavation is to collect field scientific documents to determine the architectural plan of the access road and related architecture leading to My Son Sanctuary.
The artifacts collected during the exploration and excavation process will be preserved and maintained by the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province to avoid damage or loss of artifacts and report to the Minister on the plan to protect and promote the value of those artifacts.
After completing the archaeological exploration and excavation, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board and the Institute of Archaeology must have a preliminary report and propose a plan to manage and protect the archaeological excavation area within 1 month at the latest and a scientific report within 1 year at the latest, sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also signed Decision No. 1263/QD-BVHTTDL on archaeological excavation at Tower Group L in My Son Temple Complex from May 9 to July 30, 2025.
My Son temple complex is The only place that preserves more than 70 temple towers built from the 7th to the 13th century. With that value, in December 1999, the relic site was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. Archaeological exploration and excavation here will continue to decode the mysteries of ancient Cham culture.
