"Listening to the Touch Point" is initiated and produced by Than Nghiem Club and Saigon Theatreland, co-developed by the Goethe-Institut. The practice space is supported by the Faculty of Communication & Design and the Library, HUTECH University.
“Listening to the Touch Points” is an art initiative that aims to expand access and potential for applying art to life for the deaf and hard of hearing community in Vietnam. By participating in the program, artists not only have the opportunity to practice art in a diverse environment but also explore the potential for applying performing arts in connecting the community, erasing barriers of language and perception.
The program will take place from July to October 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City with a weekly schedule of dance and movement workshops with sign language interpretation and instructions on communication and application of sign language in performing arts. The co-creation journey will conclude with two nights of performances at the theater space in early October 2025.
Through the program, participating artists will have the opportunity to access a multi-dimensional creative space, learn new artistic expression skills and contribute to spreading the humanistic values of art to the deaf and hard of hearing community. This is a group of people who still face many limitations in accessing current performing arts activities.
The organizers are looking for hearing artists who want to connect, accompany and practice art with the deaf and hard of hearing community. In addition to the opportunity to work in a creative environment, each artist will receive support for participation costs of 5 million VND and favorable working conditions.
Conditions for participation include: Commitment to accompany throughout the activity, fully participate in the program schedule and carry out an artistic activity with the community by the end of 2025 with professional support from Than Nghiem Club, Saigon Theatreland and Hear.Us.Now.
In addition, the artists agree to use their images, videos , and recordings for communication purposes for the "Listening to Touchpoints" initiative as well as to introduce related art programs in the future.
