According to Reuters, on May 29, federal judge Allison Dale Burroughs of Massachusetts decided to extend the Trump administration's ban, allowing Harvard to continue recruiting international students while the lawsuit is being processed.

Accordingly, Ms. Burroughs announced that she would issue a preliminary injunction to maintain the temporary injunction issued on May 23, helping Harvard avoid the immediate ban from the White House.

Harvard sent a letter to its international student community, affirming that students and professionals "can continue to work, conduct research, and maintain other activities without visa interruption," and pledged to take steps to protect the rights of international students and scholars.

It is known that Ms. Burroughs' statement was made right when thousands of Harvard students were attending the graduation ceremony on campus.

At the ceremony, Harvard President Alan Garber received warm applause when he welcomed graduates from around the world . He emphasized: "We welcome students from all over the world - that's right."

According to Reuters, on the same day, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also sent a letter to Harvard, saying that they would no longer impose an immediate ban but would give Harvard 30 days to submit evidence and make arguments to refute the allegations against this institution.

Previously, on May 23, Harvard University filed a lawsuit in the Boston federal court, accusing the Trump administration of violating the freedoms protected by the US Constitution when it ordered the school to revoke its license to recruit international students with immediate effect.

The school warned that the decision could have serious consequences for academic activities and the rights of the international student community, and called on the court to intervene promptly.

In response, on May 23, Judge Allison Burroughs issued a temporary order suspending the government's regulations, allowing the case to be more thoroughly reviewed before making a final decision.
