On April 26, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of Tra Vinh province coordinated with experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the French Institute for Development Research to visit a typical model of smart, sustainable and climate-adaptive ecological agriculture at Gia Hung Agricultural Development Joint Stock Company (Gia Hung Company) in Huyen Duc Hamlet, Long Son Commune, Cau Ngang District.
Attending the visit were Mr. Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Hong Thanh Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cau Ngang district, leaders of units under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; experts from international organizations and leaders of Long Son commune.
Gia Hung Company's organic circular agricultural production model that meets US and European standards is considered highly effective, contributing to increasing the value of agricultural products and solving rural labor employment.

Ms. Le Thi Hanh Dung, Director of the Company, said: Currently, the Company's production scale mainly includes organic rice, organic watermelon, organic melon, organic chicken eggs and organic leafy vegetables, etc., combined with raising egg-laying chickens to utilize livestock by-products for cultivation. The agricultural output supplied to the market is from 05 - 06 tons/month, with market prices. In addition, the Company cooperates with organic rice production cooperatives in Long Hoa and Hoa Minh communes with an area of over 30 hectares.
During the visit, experts from the International Organization suggested that the locality study the transition from organic farming model to ecological farming model to balance the environment, balance the ecology, especially maximize the use of natural resources without reducing the quality and output of products to ensure both the environment and economic value.
From there, with support and cooperation, experts will research ways to innovate and apply technology to production models to improve the environment while still preserving local organic resources to ensure ecological balance, bringing benefits, profits and health to farmers. After the visit and work, international organization experts will choose how to invest in suitable and feasible models to improve the environment in agricultural production.
Comrade Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, hopes that experts from international organizations will contribute their opinions and create conditions for the agricultural production model of Gia Hung Company in particular and feasible models of the province to participate in the Project "Transforming smart, sustainable and climate-resilient ecological agricultural systems in the central and coastal areas of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam".
