According to the report of the Thanh Ha District Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command, the unit has developed 7 technical solutions for dike protection during the flood and storm season in 2025, including: 1 solution to develop a solution to prevent Vinh Lap dike from overflowing (Mia River left dike), 2 solutions to protect culverts, 2 solutions to protect landslide banks, and 2 solutions to protect embankments.
From the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2025, many dike, embankment and culvert projects in Thanh Ha district will be upgraded and renovated with billions of dong.
There are currently 2 projects to upgrade and repair dike works, the left dike of Thai Binh River, the right dike of Rang River, funded by the Central Government for the period 2021 - 2025, including: urgent treatment of Ba Lu sluice, location K46+100, left dike of Thai Binh River (An Phuong commune) and urgent treatment of Cau Tem sluice, location K1+200, right dike of Rang River (Hong Lac commune) and 2 projects to renovate and upgrade local dike works, funded by the province, for the period 2021 - 2025, which have been completed but have not been accepted and handed over for management and put into operation.
The project to upgrade and restore the dyke works and the right dyke of Rang River, funded by the Central Government, phase 2021 - 2025, section from K0+815 - K8+170; K9+600 - K13+00; K15+300 - K20+430, in the communes of Hong Lac, Cam Viet, Thanh An, Thanh Lang, Lien Mac and Thanh Xuan, has completed an estimated 80% of the work volume.
Thanh Ha district has 66 km of dikes passing through 14 communes. Every year, many incidents related to dikes occur in the area such as seepage and leakage, especially during storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) in September 2024, there were some weak points with the risk of dike overflow.
On the afternoon of May 18, inspecting the dike works before the rainy and flood season in 2025, Thanh Ha district leaders directed the communes along the dike to clear trees and weeds on the dike slope, clean and whitewash the dike guard posts. The district People's Committee considered investing funds to support the communes in implementing and carrying out maintenance work, clearing trees and weeds and renovating the dike slope.
To ensure the safety of the dike, embankment and culvert system during the flood and storm season in 2025 and the following years, the Secretary of Thanh Ha District Party Committee directed the District People's Committee and the District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to promptly request the province and relevant agencies to consider creating favorable conditions for planning and investing funds for the construction, repair and upgrading of a number of key and important dike projects.
