Strong breakthrough in economic development
Thanh Hoa is making its name on the national economic map with an average gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the 2021-2025 period estimated at over 10.13%/year. Notably, in 2024, the province's state budget revenue is estimated at VND 54,341 billion, exceeding the estimate by 52.8% and increasing by 25.9%[1] over the same period - the highest figure ever. Thanh Hoa is currently leading the North Central provinces and ranking 8th in the country in terms of budget revenue, affirming a spectacular breakthrough.
Nghi Son Economic Zone continues to play the role of an industrial center with key projects such as Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, international port system and modern industrial parks. Last year, Thanh Hoa established 2 new industrial clusters, put into operation a number of new production facilities and started many important projects, creating strong momentum for growth in the following years.
Export value in 2024 will reach 6,293 million USD (equal to 104.9% of the plan), up 23.4%[2] over the previous year. Key industries such as garments, petrochemicals and agricultural products will not only expand in the Asian market but also enter Europe and America, affirming Thanh Hoa's maturity and international competitiveness.
Thanh Hoa has continuously strengthened foreign relations, deepened cooperation with Hua Phan province (Laos) and established strategic relationships with Niigata (Japan), the Embassy of India, Korea, Switzerland... The province has received 24 programs and projects with a total committed aid capital of up to 13 million USD[3], opening up many new opportunities. In addition, regional cooperation with major provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An, Ha Tinh has also been promoted, with socio-economic development programs achieving many positive results, expanding the economic space for the province.
From an economy that relied mainly on agriculture, Thanh Hoa has transformed itself dramatically to become a modern industrial and service center. These advances are not only reflected in numbers, but also demonstrate Thanh Hoa's vision and aspiration to rise up.
Travel – Awakening the hidden beauty
If Thanh Hoa is a precious gem, then tourism is the art of skillful carving, helping that gem to shine continuously. In 2024, Thanh Hoa made a strong impression when welcoming 15.3 million visitors, achieving an impressive growth rate of 22.5%, bringing in revenue of nearly 33,815 billion VND[4].
Sam Son – from a pristine beach has now become a modern, vibrant resort paradise; Pu Luong – a green pearl of eco-tourism, where wild nature blends with unique cultural identity; and Thanh Nha Ho – a famous historical structure, a symbol of the quintessence and wisdom of Vietnam over the centuries. These places are not only destinations, but also vibrant stories about Thanh Hoa today.
The attraction of Thanh Hoa tourism also comes from a series of unique cultural, sports, and entertainment events, combined with new and modern services such as Sun World Sam Son Water Park, Flamingo Ibiza Hai Tien, or nature discovery products such as trekking. All of these have raised the level of Thanh Hoa tourism, shaping an attractive brand: "Thanh Hoa Tourism - Four Seasons of Fragrance", where each season of the year brings visitors unforgettable experiences.
Tourism is not only a driving force for economic development, but also a bridge connecting Thanh Hoa with domestic and international friends, contributing to spreading the image of a land rich in tradition but constantly innovating, creating and breaking through on the path of global integration.
Modern infrastructure, foundation for the future
Thanh Hoa's remarkable development is associated with important advances in infrastructure, creating a solid foundation for breakthroughs in the new era.
North-South Expressway: The vital route shortens the distance, making Thanh Hoa a strategic connection point with major economic centers of the country.
Tho Xuan Airport: Upgrading to an international airport not only increases transport capacity but also opens the door to global integration, bringing Thanh Hoa closer to the world.
Nghi Son Port: With its position as the leading logistics center in the Central region, Nghi Son Port has become an important link in the regional and international supply chain, contributing to promoting trade and industrialization.
At the same time, the intra-provincial transport system has also been invested in strongly, synchronously and modernly. Many important routes connecting regions and inter-regions have been basically completed, typically: The route connecting National Highway 1 with National Highway 45, from Hoang Xuan commune (Hoang Hoa district) to Thieu Long commune (Thieu Hoa district). Van Thien - Ben En route, enhancing connection to Ben En national eco-tourism area. Provincial road 506B, from Lam Son town to Tho Lap commune (Tho Xuan district), ... promoting trade and economic development.
These infrastructure projects not only open up opportunities for socio-economic development, but are also the "wings" that help Thanh Hoa rise high, ready for deep integration and affirm its position in the era of integration and development.
Aspiration to reach far, confident to accompany the nation
In the new era, Thanh Hoa is not only a province with great potential but also a living symbol of the will to rise and the aspiration for development of the Vietnamese people. The tireless efforts in expanding international cooperation have helped Thanh Hoa successfully attract a series of large-scale investment projects from countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, China, France, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand. The province also welcomed and worked effectively with many large corporations and investors, actively removing obstacles and speeding up the implementation of key projects.
As a result, the total social investment capital in the area in 2024 is estimated at 138,856 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 102.9%, up 4.5% over the same period. The province has successfully attracted 108 new projects, including 19 FDI projects, with a total registered capital of 13,321.6 billion VND and 422.9 million USD, up 15.9% in value over the previous year[5]. These figures not only demonstrate the attractiveness of Thanh Hoa, but also mark a strong step forward in bringing the province's products and services to the world.
However, Thanh Hoa’s most valuable resource is not only investment resources or large projects, but also its people. Hard-working workers, visionary managers and ambitious young generations are the heart and driving force for sustainable development.
It is this unanimity and relentless efforts that have helped Thanh Hoa build a solid foundation, ready to move further in its development journey, affirming its position on the national and international map. Thanh Hoa is not only a land, but also a story of faith, will, and aspiration to conquer new heights.
