Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai agree to invest in building 3 bridges and 2 railway lines connecting the 2 localities.

Previously, on April 25, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee had a working session on traffic connection between Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City.

Complete the plan to build Cat Lai bridge before May 10

In the concluding announcement, for the investment projects to build road bridges including: Cat Lai ferry replacement bridge (Cat Lai bridge); Phu My 2 bridge and Dong Nai 2 bridge, the leaders of the two localities have agreed on the necessity of investing in these projects.

In particular, for the Cat Lai Bridge Project, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province basically agreed on the necessity of investing in the construction of a bridge to replace the Cat Lai ferry, the competent authority implementing the project is the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province. Along with that, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City assigned the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City (Department of Transport and Public Works) to proactively coordinate with the Department of Construction of Dong Nai Province to urgently review and agree on the adjustment, update and supplement of planning related to the Cat Lai Bridge to ensure synchronization, feasibility and organization of implementation.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Law on Public Investment and the Law on Investment under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) method, the Department of Finance of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Finance of Dong Nai province are assigned to urgently coordinate in researching and agreeing on the plan, form, and capital source for the project investment according to regulations. Advise and propose to the People's Committees of the two localities, and submit before May 10, 2025. "The Department of Construction of Dong Nai province is assigned to urgently preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City (Department of Transport and Public Works) to review and complete the Plan and regulations on coordination in implementing the Cat Lai Bridge Construction Investment Project and submit them to the leaders of the People's Committees of the two localities for consideration and signing to ensure progress according to the set plan, and to complete before May 10, 2025," the conclusion announcement clearly stated.

Regarding the investment projects to build Phu My 2 Bridge and Dong Nai 2 Bridge, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province basically agree on the necessity of investment and construction. In which, the competent authority implementing the Dong Nai 2 Bridge Project is the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province, the competent authority implementing the Phu My 2 Bridge Project is the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

The leaders of the two localities also agreed to assign the Department of Construction of the two localities to urgently coordinate to review and unify the update of the locations of Phu My 2 Bridge, Dong Nai 2 Bridge, Phu My 2 Bridge connecting road, Dong Nai 2 Bridge connecting road into the relevant planning projects of the two localities (construction planning, land use planning) to serve as a basis for implementation, ensuring synchronization and feasibility of implementation. Advise and propose to the People's Committees of the two localities to complete in May 2025.

At the same time, assign the Department of Construction and the Department of Finance of Ho Chi Minh City to proactively coordinate with the Department of Construction, the Department of Finance of Dong Nai province and related units to study and agree on the proposed plan, form, and capital source for the construction project of Phu My 2 bridge and Dong Nai 2 bridge according to regulations. Advise and propose the People's Committees of the two localities to report to the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee for the policy of studying investment in the construction of Phu My 2 bridge and Dong Nai 2 bridge, to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.

In the concluding announcement, the leaders of the two localities also assigned the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City to urgently preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province and related departments and units to establish a Working Group on the implementation of connecting traffic projects (the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City is the Head of the Group; the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province is the Deputy Head; members are related departments of the two localities). At the same time, develop regulations on the functions, tasks, and operation plans of the Working Group, advise and propose to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City before May 10, 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City provides maximum support for extending Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line to Dong Nai

In addition to investment projects to build road bridges connecting the two localities, in the conclusion announcement, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Dong Nai province also proposed a plan to implement two railway projects connecting the two localities.

Specifically, regarding the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line extension project to Dong Nai province, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee is currently preparing a pre-feasibility study report for the urban railway section connecting to the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line in Dong Nai province. "The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee supports the use of existing infrastructure and will coordinate and provide maximum support to the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee in researching investment and connection to the Ho Chi Minh City urban railway network," the conclusion announcement stated.

Regarding the project to build a railway connecting Tan Son Nhat International Airport with Long Thanh Airport, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that immediately after the competent authority assigns the task of preparing the project according to regulations; the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee will closely coordinate to research and implement the project to ensure synchronization according to the set plan.
