Ho Chi Minh City honors outstanding teachers

On the evening of November 19, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor outstanding teachers in the cause of building, innovating and developing education and training in the City (1975-2025); and at the same time presented the 28th Vo Truong Toan Award in 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that over the past 50 years, the Party Committee, government and people of the City have always accompanied the Education sector to overcome difficulties, affirming its pioneering role in innovation and socio -economic development. In that development journey, the City's Education sector has achieved many achievements such as completing universal education - eliminating illiteracy; maintaining the quality of mass and spearhead education in the leading group of the country; improving the quality of training high-quality human resources. The City is also at the forefront of implementing foreign language and information technology programs according to international standards and developing the "Digital School" model, gradually affirming its position as the center of digital education in the country.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, the honoring ceremony is not only an opportunity to express gratitude for the great contributions of generations of teachers but also to send a message to the younger generation about the spirit of dedication, responsibility, and aspiration to rise up; to join hands to build Ho Chi Minh City to develop, to be a pioneer with the whole country in the new period. "The 50 typical examples honored are all dedicated, responsible teachers with pure moral qualities and prestige; pioneers in innovation in management, teaching methods and assessment, and have made many outstanding contributions to the development of education in Ho Chi Minh City from 1975 to present", the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized.

At the ceremony, 9 teachers and managers were honored to receive the Second and Third Class Labor Medals.

On this occasion, 50 managers and teachers with outstanding achievements in the whole industry received the 28th Vo Truong Toan Award.

Sharing when receiving the award, Ms. To Thi Kieu Oanh, a teacher at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (Di An Ward) said that the award is a great joy and also an encouragement for her to continue to stick with her profession. She wishes to continue learning, innovating teaching methods, instilling in students the spirit of love for learning and positive energy; contributing to building an increasingly better educational environment.

This year, the number of managers and teachers nominated for the Vo Truong Toan Award has nearly doubled compared to 2024. Of which, the Junior High School level has the most nominations with 63 people, followed by the Primary School level with 57 people, the Preschool level with 48 people, the High School level with 35 people and the continuing education system, the Department of Culture and Social Affairs under the People's Committee of the ward and commune has 24 people. Although working at many levels of education, with different ages and years of experience, the teachers who were awarded the Vo Truong Toan Award all have many outstanding contributions to innovation in management and teaching implementation, and have the trust and love of colleagues, parents and students.
