Previously, at about 11:35 p.m. on November 17, the self-propelled sand barge with license plate number SG 10420 (load capacity 3,165 tons, capacity 1,014 CV) was traveling from Dan Xay River to Long Tau River. When it reached the area near Dan Xay Bridge in Can Gio Commune, Ho Chi Minh City, it lost control and collided with the Dan Xay Bridge pier, causing the vehicle to tilt and then overturn.
In order to ensure waterway safety in the area, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced that from November 19 until further notice, the new inland waterway route on the Dan Xay River in Can Gio Commune (Dan Xay Bridge area) will restrict vehicle traffic. Operators of watercraft traveling through the above-mentioned restricted traffic area must increase vigilance; travel one way, stay away from the accident area; do not overtake; maintain appropriate speed and distance; and limit creating waves.
In addition, vessels on the journey maintain communication, comply with the requests and instructions of the regulatory and guard forces at the scene (Waterway Police Team No. 2 - City Traffic Police Department, Division 4 under the City's Special-Use Forest Management Board, Waterway Management Center). For related information, please contact the Department of Construction via the Waterway Management Center (phone 028.3920.5332) for support.
