Road Management Area IV (Ministry of Transport) has just sent a document to the authorities of Dong Nai province to support ensuring traffic safety during the dismantling of the BOT toll station on National Highway 20 Tan Phu from September 15.
The station was dismantled after 3 years of stopping collecting tolls for the Highway 20 upgrade project, which the investor, Hung Phat Joint Venture Company Limited, recovered capital under the BOT form for the project to upgrade this route since 2010.
After dismantling, the construction unit will repair the road surface through the toll station to ensure safety and increase the road's operational capacity. The dismantling is expected to be completed in early November.
Previously, the Dong Nai Province Traffic Safety Committee sent many documents to the Road Management Area IV requesting the removal of BOT stations on National Highways 1A, 1K and 20 passing through the province to ensure safety. The National Highway 1K toll station was removed by the Roads Department in June.
Currently, Dong Nai province still has a toll station on National Highway 1A through Bien Hoa City and two toll stations T1 and T2 on National Highway 51 that have not been dismantled, posing a risk to traffic safety.
