Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Van Binh said that scientific research is one of the seven tasks of hospitals. Scientific research, in addition to developing expertise and knowledge, is also meaningful in the patriotic emulation movement. Not only public hospitals but also non-public hospitals in the province are very active in scientific research. Although the number of annual scientific research topics of units in the health sector is very large, the number of provincial-level scientific and technological research topics is not much. The reason is that there are still many bottlenecks.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, said that the current shortcomings and difficulties in scientific research in the medical field include: Mechanisms, policies and legal corridors (cumbersome and complicated administrative procedures in implementation, liquidation and settlement); lack of high-quality human resources (the team of scientists is still thin, especially in key or high-tech fields); lack of connection between research and practical needs (there are still many research topics of an academic nature, not close to the needs of society); lack of intrinsic motivation and research culture, achievement in scientific research.

Besides, there is no close connection between medical facilities with institutes, schools and businesses; there are limitations in funding, facilities and equipment for research.
