At the Hong Bang Secondary School (District 5) exam site on the morning of June 7, many candidates expressed concern about the difficulty of the 10th grade math exam according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program (new program) that they will have to take. "The literature subject is within their ability, the English subject is easy, so I predict that the math subject will be very difficult to classify candidates," the male student shared.
Sharing the same opinion, Truong Gia My, a student at Hong Bang Secondary School, said that after the literature exam was within her ability and the English exam was easy, the math exam would be more challenging. "I think that in the two subjects of math and literature, there will always be a difficult subject to classify candidates, but this year I think math will be difficult," the female student said.
To prepare, My focuses on reviewing real-life math problems to create accurate equations. "Real-life math has many types of questions and a lot of data, so it's easy for students like me to get confused, especially when we're nervous about taking exams," the female student emphasized. My's review method focuses on solving traditional problems with a frequency of "one problem per day" and looking at social networks for ways to solve each question and the types of questions that often appear.

For Phuong Thi Ngoc Anh, a student at Tran Boi Co Secondary School (District 5), she hopes the math test will be as easy as the literature and English tests. "I'm a bit worried about the actual math test, so in addition to traditional review at school and reviewing on TikTok, my father and I burned incense to ask for blessings," the female student said.
Notably, at this testing site, some candidates forgot their study tools at home, including compasses and protractors - necessary items for doing geometry tests. Immediately, the examination room staff came to reassure the candidates, guided them into the examination room to take attendance as usual, and then asked for support from volunteers who are high school students participating in the Hoa Phuong Do campaign.
By 7 o'clock, the time when candidates were required to be present at the exam room, volunteers had time to buy tools for candidates who had forgotten them.

As the person who directly searched for school supplies, Van Huynh Le Minh, a student at Tran Khai Nguyen High School (District 5), said he "ran around several times" to buy 3 more sets of school supplies for his juniors who were "having problems". "After visiting two convenience stores but not being able to buy anything, I was lucky to find a stationery store that still had compasses and rulers, so I bought everything," the male student shared while his helmet was still tightly fastened on his head.
After paying, Minh immediately went back to school and quickly delivered the tools to the exam room staff so that they could be sent to the candidates right before the exam started. "I was also worried about the candidates so I was a bit nervous when I went to buy them, so I tried to run a little faster so that the candidates could get the tools on time," Minh recounted.
Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, informed that the 10th grade math exam will be presented through the following knowledge streams: Geometry and Measurement; Numbers and Algebra; Statistics and Probability. The purpose of the exam is to assess mathematical abilities such as mathematical thinking and reasoning, mathematical problem solving, and mathematical modeling. Of which, there are 3 questions on practical math, accounting for 3.5 points; and the problem on plane geometry accounts for 3 points.
This afternoon (June 7), candidates will continue to take specialized exams if they register for specialized schools. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, 76,435 candidates registered for the 2025 exam and the total enrollment target is 70,070 places, meaning about 91.7% of candidates will be admitted to public schools. On the other hand, the total target for private schools is nearly 19,500 places, helping to reduce competitive pressure compared to previous years.
