Notably, the electric motorcycle segment in Vietnam continued its strong growth in the first six months of 2025, with VinFast and Yadea being two brands that made a significant impact.
According to statistics from Motorcycles Data, growth was recorded in most segments. Scooters continued to lead with an 18.7% increase, while large-displacement motorcycles, despite their smaller size, also saw significant growth of 61.1%.

The electric motorcycle segment is showing exceptional growth. The L1 electric motorcycle group (equivalent to gasoline motorcycles under 50cc), which targets students, recorded a growth rate of 112.6%. New products such as Yamaha NEO's, VinFast Motio, Honda ICON :e, and Yadea Vekoo, along with promotional programs, have contributed to stimulating consumer demand in this segment.
Meanwhile, the L3 electric scooter group (equivalent to over 50cc) also increased by 52.6% compared to the same period, showing the increasing popularity of electric motorcycles in Vietnam.

In terms of brand recognition, Honda continues to lead the two-wheeler market with over 1.1 million new vehicle registrations, accounting for nearly 80% of the market share. Yamaha ranks second with 66,260 vehicles, a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Third is VinFast with 59,691 vehicles sold and an outstanding growth rate of 501%, reflecting its rapid breakthrough in the electric vehicle segment.
Next are Espero (2%) and Yadea (1%). Among these, VinFast and Yadea are two purely electric brands, while Espero sells both electric and gasoline vehicles.

Besides domestic brands like VinFast, Dat Bike, Pega, and Selex Motors, the electric motorcycle market also sees a strong presence of Chinese brands, creating diversity in models and price ranges.
Currently, users can own electric motorcycles starting from 12 million VND. The 20-30 million VND segment accounts for a large proportion with models such as VinFast Evo200, Feliz Neo/S, Honda ICON e:, and Yadea Velax. The high-end segment is priced from 35-50 million VND and above.

The strong growth of electric motorcycles also stems from the policy context. The government is gradually tightening regulations on gasoline-powered motorcycles in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to reduce pollution. This is prompting traditional brands like Honda and Yamaha to accelerate their transition to electric vehicles.
In the near future, the Vietnamese two-wheeler market is expected to continue growing, with a focus on electrification and fierce competition between domestic and international brands.
