Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery is located on Linh Son mountain in the middle of Truoi lake, at the foot of Bach Ma range, in Loc Hoa commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province.
The project started construction in 2006 and was completed in 2008, founded by Zen Master Thich Thanh Tu, with many items such as: Buddha altar, Tam Quan gate, Patriarchal hall, Main hall, Bell tower, Monks' house, Nunnery,...
Dr. Nguyen Thuy Loan (USA) once commented: "Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery is located in the middle of Truoi Lake, nestled in Bach Ma mountains and forests, creating a natural ink painting between mountains and lakes."

Seen from behind, Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery is divided into two areas, including the Buddha altar and the cluster of buildings including the Main Hall, the Monks' House, and the Nunnery, separated by a canyon. When the water level of Truoi Lake rises, this canyon will be flooded, creating a clear separation.
The Zen monastery uses the high hill opposite as a screen, looking out to the peaceful, prosperous villages along the Truoi River, with the famous name "the land of sweet jackfruit and fragrant strawberries".

Built in a special-use forest with diverse biological resources, belonging to Bach Ma National Park, the Zen Monastery campus has many species of trees and flowers blooming all year round.
Located at an altitude of 1,450m above sea level, Bach Ma is a quiet mountainous area with a cool, fresh climate, attracting a large number of tourists every year to make pilgrimages and sightsee.

Natural forest trees and planted trees at Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery bear abundant fruit.

Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery also researches and successfully cultivates many precious medicinal herbs.

To reach Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery, visitors must cross Truoi Lake by tourist boat.

From the ferry, visitors must continue down a steep path or climb 174 steps, through the Tam Quan Gate to enter the Main Hall of the Zen Monastery.

A representative of the unit managing and exploiting tourism transportation on Truoi Lake said that ticket sales to visit Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery are only available from 7am to 4pm every day.
After this time, the unit will not organize to take guests to the Zen Monastery so that the monks have a quiet space to practice chanting and reciting Buddha's name.

On the occasion of April 30, the renovation and upgrading of the tourist route connecting National Highway 1A to Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery, over 5.5km long, was completed and put into operation.
The project belongs to the investment project to build and develop tourism infrastructure, supporting comprehensive growth in the Greater Mekong Sub-region - Phase 2, Thua Thien Hue component project in Phu Loc district, with a total construction cost of nearly 57 billion VND.
