Turkish police also arrested 52 people at a youth event organized by the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democracy and Equality Party (DEM) - formerly known as HDP - in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, security sources said on Monday.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said on social media X that the suspects were charged with "glorifying crime and criminals" and "propaganda of terrorist organizations", and issued arrest warrants for the others.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya later said authorities had begun investigating 57 social media accounts accused of posting content against the Turkish armed forces and four more people had been detained as part of the operation.
