Comrade Nguyen Xuan Hai, Vice Chairman of Tho Xuan District People's Committee, said: As the noble land of the Tien Le and Hau Le dynasties (15th - 12th centuries), identifying tourism development associated with promoting the value of historical and cultural relics, tourist attractions, making Tho Xuan a key tourist destination of the province is one of the four key programs on socio -economic development of the district in the 2020-2025 term. The District Party Committee has directed Tho Xuan District People's Committee to develop and promulgate the Tourism Development Program associated with promoting the value of relics, cultural heritages, and tourist attractions of Tho Xuan district, for the period 2021-2025, in which it has focused on researching, establishing, appraising and submitting to competent authorities for approval the master plan for conservation, restoration and promotion of values. In Tho Xuan land with many types of tangible and intangible cultural heritage such as Le Hoan temple relics and festivals, Lam Kinh relics and festivals... Tho Xuan people are hard-working, in the district there are many traditional and famous occupations such as: gai cake making village (Mia village, Tho Dien commune), leaf-shaped cake making village (Xuan Lap commune); candy making village, rice vermicelli, spring rolls of all kinds (Xuan Yen, Xuan Bai, Tho Dien communes, Tho Xuan town), bamboo mat weaving village (Tho Nguyen commune)...
With a long history and culture and the richness of traditional products, along with the transit routes of tours - tourist routes such as: Sam Son - Lam Kinh - Suoi Ca Than tour; Lam Kinh - Thanh Nha Ho tour... In addition, Tho Xuan has favorable conditions for roads and air routes. Traditional craft villages of Tho Xuan district are close to Tho Xuan Airport, which is very convenient for domestic and foreign tourists to travel. Therefore, Tho Xuan District People's Committee has determined that tourism development must harmoniously combine historical and cultural values with the development of traditional craft villages. In recent years, in order to attract tourists to Tho Xuan, the District People's Committee has directed localities with relics and craft villages to improve management efficiency and develop brands, and build local OCOP products.
The craft of making gai cake in Thinh My village (also known as Mia village), Tho Dien commune has existed since the 15th century. Through the ups and downs of history, the craft of making gai cake has been preserved and promoted by the people. Mentioning "Tu Tru" gai cake is mentioning a delicious cake made from sticky rice flour, gai leaf flour and molasses. Sticky rice is soaked for 2 to 3 hours and then finely ground. Gai leaves, the ingredient that gives each cake its characteristic flavor, after being carefully selected, boiled, washed, dried, crushed into powder and then mixed with sticky rice and molasses to create a smooth black powder mixture. The cake filling is made from main ingredients such as sugar, green beans, grated coconut and a little banana oil. The fresh yellow color of finely ground green beans combined with the white color of grated coconut, the faint aroma of banana essential oil makes each cake even more attractive. In the past, gai cake was used during holidays, Tet and to offer to kings. Nowadays, when coming to Tho Xuan, tourists from all over the province and outside the province all look to buy gai cake as gifts for their relatives.
The Xuan Pha performance dates back to the early 10th century, originating from the royal court, through many changes it was popularized, becoming a performance in community activities. After a long period of oblivion, in 1990, the Xuan Pha performance was restored and in 2016, the Xuan Pha performance was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. According to local people in Xuan Pha village: The Xuan Pha performance dates back to the Dinh Dynasty, associated with the story of the village's tutelary god helping King Dinh Tien Hoang defeat the 12 warlords. To express his gratitude, the king held a celebration festival at the village's tutelary god temple and granted the people of Xuan Pha village 5 dances: Hoa Lang, Chiem Thanh, Tu Huan (Luc Hon Nhung), Ai Lao and Ngo Quoc. Named after the village, the Xuan Pha dance, also known as “The Five Neighboring Countries’ Tribute Offerings”, is a combination of five dances, simulating the neighboring countries’ tributes to the Dai Viet king. Every year on the 10th day of the second lunar month, the traditional festival of Xuan Pha village is organized by the Party Committee and the authorities of Xuan Truong commune, attracting a large number of visitors from all over the country to the village festival to better understand the beauty of the cultural heritage of our ancestors.
Along with promoting traditional values, Tho Xuan District People's Committee has prioritized investment resources and promoted, attracted investors and enterprises to implement tourism development projects; projects to preserve and promote the value of relics and tourist attractions; develop infrastructure and facilities to gradually form tourist areas and destinations according to the orientation of regional tourism development, including Sao Mai - An Giang Resort in Tho Lam commune; Pho Dam ancient town in Xuan Thien commune; Van Lai - Yen Truong capital... At the same time, gradually improve the scale and quality of festivals such as Lam Kinh festival, Le Hoan temple festival, Xuan Pha village festival, Le Thanh Tong festival... Bring famous products: Tu Tru gai cake; Xuan Lap rang bua leaf cake; Xuan Yen peanut candy; Xuan Bai sour sausage; Tho Xuan town grilled sausage; Tho Loc conical hat village; Fine arts (Xuan Bai, Tho Minh, Bac Luong) become unique and characteristic cultural tourism products of Tho Xuan land.
