Ten Tan Border Guard Station coordinated with Ten Tan Primary School to organize a "Border Lesson" at the border marker.
Ten Tan Border Guard Station is assigned to manage and protect 23.292km of border with 9 landmarks. From the above task, the Party Committee and the command of the station have coordinated with the school principals in the area to direct the school delegation to carry out propaganda, dissemination and legaleducation activities to prevent social evils and crimes in schools. The "Border Lesson" model is one of the activities to concretize this coordination program. Every month, the green-uniformed teachers develop a topic and go to a school in the area once a week to teach students. The border lesson is intuitive, supplementing knowledge and life skills, with the hope that students will better understand the work and role of the border force at the border of the Fatherland as well as disseminate laws on border security.
Vi Thi Yen, a student at Ten Tan Primary School, said: “The extracurricular lesson at the border marker was really interesting. We stood directly at the border marker and listened to the soldiers talk about the process of protecting every inch of the Fatherland. It gave me many emotions and a clearer sense of patriotism and the responsibility of each citizen in protecting the border.”
Also with the desire to arouse patriotism, educate about civic responsibility and connect with officers and soldiers of the Border Guard, the border posts have coordinated with schools to organize activities to experience and educate about lifestyle for students. In this practical activity, students can visit the unit's accommodation, study and training areas and experience the daily work of the Border Guard such as increasing production, physical training, regulations, internal hygiene... In the exciting atmosphere, the students openly talked and learned from the officers and soldiers of the Border Guard about their daily work and life, which they had never experienced in school. It is from these activities that a close relationship has been built between the school, students and the Border Guard. Through that, students are inspired to become responsible citizens, ready to contribute to the task of building and protecting the Fatherland.
It is known that at schools in the border areas, after each time coordinating with officers and soldiers of the Border Guard to impart knowledge on protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland, they organize small competitions for each class, each topic or organize school-wide competitions in the form of "Picking democratic flowers", "Ringing the golden bell"... with the content of learning about the border and the Border Guard to re-evaluate the knowledge of the students; at the same time, commend and reward students who have participated well in the "Border Lesson" program and have excellent achievements in extracurricular activities.
In fact, after 5 years of implementing the "Border Lesson" of Thanh Hoa Border Guard, students have grasped basic legal knowledge about the border, and have a better understanding of the work of border guards. The useful knowledge gained in class or through field experiences also helps students better understand the history of the nation, as well as the sacred value of territorial sovereignty. National pride will be nurtured and cultivated so that in the future, students will become good citizens, together with the Border Guard force, to perform well the task of firmly protecting territorial sovereignty, national border security, and building prosperous and happy villages.
We believe that after each "Border Lesson" ends, the lessons about love for the homeland, the country and the responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland will always be imprinted in the minds of the students. The border marker is no longer a strange concept but has become a sacred symbol of resilience and indomitability, where the footprints of the border guards still silently patrol day and night, protecting every inch of the homeland. It is the silent work of the border guards that has contributed to the success of the special lesson, where the lecture is not only conveyed through words, but also deeply engraved through vivid real-life images. The simple but profound lessons will be valuable luggage, so that the students can grow up with love for their homeland and deep gratitude towards the soldiers who are day and night protecting every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland.
