Replicating typical examples of good farmers and businessmen

Identifying the movement “Farmers compete in good production and business” as a driving force for economic development, in recent times, Farmers’ Associations at all levels in the province have strengthened propaganda work, helping members understand the content, purpose and significance of the movement, and set standards for good production and business households to register and strive for. Thereby, more and more typical examples of good farmers in production and business have appeared.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of Hai Dien Aquaculture Cooperative in Con town (Hai Hau) has been successful in raising snails and specialty fish for many years. The cooperative currently has 13 members participating in aquaculture with an area of ​​12.5 hectares; of which the snail farming area is 3 hectares, the rest is for raising whiteleg shrimp, tiger prawns, grouper, headfish, sea bass, etc. Thanks to promoting production linkages, the income of members is increasing. The total revenue of the cooperative in 2024 reached 14 billion VND, after deducting expenses, members had a profit of 4 billion VND. Mr. Binh's family alone has 42 ponds with a total area of ​​2.7 hectares for raising snails and various types of fish. In 2024, Mr. Binh sold about 12 tons of commercial snails at a selling price of 230,000 - 250,000 VND/kg; after deducting expenses, the income was about 1.2 billion VND. Mr. Binh's model of raising snails and specialty fish also creates jobs for 28 local workers with an income of 5-7.5 million VND/person/month. This is just one of hundreds of thousands of farming households that are good at production and business in the province.

To encourage farmers to compete in production and business, Farmers' Associations at all levels have focused on implementing programs and projects to restructure the agricultural sector; coordinate with local authorities and functional sectors to support members in transforming the structure of crops, livestock, and crops, exploiting the potential and strengths of land, labor, and resources to invest in production and business development, boldly applying scientific and technological advances and new technologies in production, creating safe agricultural products with economic value and increasing income. The Associations at all levels also support members with many specific activities such as: providing agricultural materials and equipment; vocational training, job creation; accessing preferential loans; promoting and consuming agricultural products and goods for farmers. In the first months of 2025, the Provincial Farmers' Association organized 14 scientific and technical training courses for over 2,100 officials and farmer members in the whole province. Farmers' Associations in districts and cities have coordinated with enterprises to organize hundreds of training courses for farmer members in communes and towns on techniques for using fertilizers and pesticides, along with transferring techniques for preserving, processing and consuming products. Associations at all levels have also secured loans from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD); coordinated with the Bank for Social Policies to receive entrusted loans for poor households and policy beneficiaries. To date, the total outstanding loans from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Nam Dinh branch and the North Nam Dinh branch are over VND 13,552 billion for 36,106 borrowers. Outstanding loans from the Bank for Social Policies are over VND 1,849 billion for 37,846 borrowers...

Thanks to that, on average, each year the whole province has 252 thousand farmer households registered, of which over 129 thousand households have achieved the title of excellent farmer households in production and business at all levels. Notably, in December 2024, the Outstanding Farmers in Production and Business Club of Nam Dinh province was established with 59 members. Of which, 39 members are billionaire farmers with revenue from 1 to less than 10 billion VND/year; 20 billionaire farmers have revenue from 10 billion VND/year or more. The emulation movement for excellent production and business continues to develop, with many typical examples of farmers appearing, representing the spirit of hard work, creativity, and self-reliance of farmers. Many excellent production and business households have large production scales with capital of billions of VND, annual income of hundreds of millions of VND or more, creating on-site jobs for dozens of workers. Typical examples include: Mr. Do Duy Bac, Nam Dien commune (Nam Truc) growing and trading ornamental plants; Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc, Truc Thai commune (Truc Ninh) with a pig farming model and growing crops according to VietGAP standards; Mr. Trieu Dinh Hoi, Hop Hung commune (Vu Ban) with a rabbit farming model; Mr. Tran Van Quyen, My Ha commune (Nam Dinh city) with a black carp farming model; Mr. Vu Tuan Hiep, Hong Thuan commune (Giao Thuy) with a model of producing and processing products from mushrooms; Mr. To Van Manh, Phu Hung commune (Y Yen) with a model of raising loach carp; Ms. Dao Thi Ha, Loc Hoa ward (Nam Dinh city) growing cordyceps mushrooms... By replicating typical examples of good farmers in production and business, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have contributed to promoting the development of the province's agricultural economy. Up to now, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have participated in building 459 "Large Field" models with a total area of ​​21,037 hectares, of which 4,000 hectares have guaranteed products. 19 agricultural cooperatives have been established with 203 participating members; 210 cooperative groups with 2,979 participating members; 203 models of professional farmers' branches and associations with over 2,600 participating members. In addition, the recognition and reward of outstanding collectives and individuals are always focused on by Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province, creating a widespread influence in all fields of production and business. In 2024, member Luong Van Truong, Nghia Trung commune (Nghia Hung) was introduced and nominated to be honored as "Scientist of Farmers" for the 5th time; and won the second national prize in the field of Cultivation - Biology - Environment with the technical solution "Producing improved pre-germinated rice seeds". Member Dinh Van Thuan, Hai Dong commune (Hai Hau) was honored as "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer" with the model of integrated farm and raising swiftlets.
In the coming time, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province will continue to launch and improve the quality of the movement of farmers competing in production and good business; mobilize members to unite and help each other in terms of capital, experience, science and technology, and promote internal resources from farmers to rise up and get rich. Mobilize and guide farmers to link and cooperate in production, form cooperatives, cooperatives and other forms of collective economy in agriculture; actively participate in shifting the structure of crops and livestock, creating specialized production areas, large fields, and linked fields to effectively implement the agricultural restructuring project and the OCOP program.
