The AGU Recruitment Fair 2025 at An Giang University (AGU) - Ho Chi Minh City National University has created conditions for students to approach businesses, re-evaluate their own abilities and understand more about the expectations of the labor market. The event opens a practical direction for connecting training and recruitment needs in the current period.

When students "look in the mirror" at their abilities

On a Sunday morning, the campus of An Giang University became bustling. Hundreds of students showed up early to attend the recruitment fair. The event gathered 28 businesses, nearly 600 job positions and many well-arranged booths. At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Vo Van Thang, Rector of An Giang University, emphasized the role of career guidance activities in the development of young human resources. According to Associate Professor Dr. Vo Van Thang, creating conditions for students to meet employers while still in school will help them shape their future career path sooner.

For many students, this is the first opportunity to directly talk to employers. Ngo Nhu Huynh (final year student majoring in primaryeducation ) shared: “I prepared my CV (job application) online, met with representatives of Isee Ielts Foreign Language Center and Tre Viet Primary, Secondary and High School. After the meeting, I am much more confident”. From another perspective, Huynh Thi Bich Tuyen (second year student majoring in marketing) admitted: “The first time I participated, I did not have a complete profile. But through the booths, I understood more clearly the skills I lacked”. From that reality, it can be seen that most students are not familiar with the real recruitment environment. Proactive research, open attitude and learning spirit are the foundation for development in the near future.

At the booths, businesses are both looking for suitable candidates and proactively sharing experiences and consulting directly with students. Ms. Nguyen Thi Duoc (Controller of Vietnam Public Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Pvcombank) Long Xuyen branch) commented: “Candidates need to demonstrate communication skills, ability to withstand pressure and a spirit of cooperation. Attitude is very important in the selection process”. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh (Head of Human Resources Department of An Giang Samho Company Limited) said that the company is recruiting 20 office staff who can communicate in English, working in the production workshop. Students majoring in English language or pedagogy who can use English flexibly and communicate quickly will be given priority.

The festival kicks off the transformation

The atmosphere of the festival did not only focus on recruitment. The performances at the beginning of the program, the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the speeches of the school leaders, business representatives and students created a professional activity combined with social experiences with clear orientation. Many famous units in the fields of finance, education, technology and communication participated. In addition, the participation of press agencies, such as: Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Thanh Nien, An Giang Radio - Television Station... showed the influence of the event in the community.

Tran Minh Quan (final year student majoring in English Pedagogy) said: “This is an opportunity for students to gain practical experience. Preparing documents, talking to employers and understanding market information helps me feel more confident before graduating.” During the festival, many students submitted their applications and received specific instructions on job vacancies and next steps. Some were scheduled for interviews, while others returned with a new mindset and a clearer sense of self-orientation.

The gap between classroom theory and employment practice appears to be narrowing. When learners are proactive in improving their skills, businesses are receptive and schools provide timely support, integration into the labor market becomes more feasible.

AGU Recruitment Day 2025 marks a shift from traditional training to a practical approach. With continuous and effective connections between 3 parties: School - Enterprise - Learner, An Giang University students can become a responsible, competent workforce and meet the development expectations of the locality and the country.
