Pepper price today June 6, 2025: Pepper price drops sharply by 2000 VND

Today's domestic pepper price on June 6 is at 143,000 - 144,000 VND/kg. Domestic pepper prices have dropped sharply from 1,000 to 2,000 VND compared to yesterday. In May 2025, Vietnam exported about 25 thousand tons of pepper.

Domestic pepper price: Sharp decrease of up to 2000 VND

As of 5:00 a.m. today (June 6), the domestic pepper market has dropped sharply. Currently, the pepper purchase price is recorded at 143,000 - 144,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices in Gia Lai and Binh Phuoc both decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, staying at 143,000 VND/kg.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dak Nong both listed the price at 143,000 VND/kg, down 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Meanwhile, Dak Lak is the province with the highest purchase price in the country at 144,000 VND/kg, down 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

World pepper prices: Exciting with Indonesian market

In the world market, pepper prices continued to fluctuate in Indonesia. The Indonesian exchange increased again with increases of 0.16% and 0.18%, respectively, listing black pepper and white pepper at 7,437 USD/ton (equivalent to 195,177 VND/kg); white pepper was listed at 10,142 USD/ton (about 266,167 VND/kg).

In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper 500 g/l and 550 g/l remained unchanged compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 6,300 and 6,400 USD/ton (equivalent to 165,401 - 168,026 VND/kg). The price of ASTA white pepper remained unchanged at 9,300 USD/ton (about 244,163 VND/kg).

Malaysian and Brazilian exchanges were stable. Malaysian white pepper continued to hold the highest global price at USD 11,850/ton (equivalent to VND 311,110/kg).

Comments and forecasts

In May 2025, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover is estimated at 6.28 billion USD, up nearly 20% over the same period last year. In the first 5 months of the year, the total export value of the whole industry reached 28.04 billion USD, up 15.1% over the same period in 2024.

Regarding pepper alone, in May 2025, Vietnam exported about 25,000 tons, earning 176 million USD. In the first 5 months of the year, the total export output reached 98.6 thousand tons, bringing in a value of 684.4 million USD. Although the volume decreased by 13.6%, the value increased sharply by 39.2% thanks to the average export price reaching 6,937 USD/ton, an increase of more than 61% over the same period last year.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien said that in the coming time, the ministry will promote the development of domestic consumption markets and expand exports. The focus is on removing technical barriers, promoting trade with major markets such as China, the US, the EU and Japan, and opening up new potential markets such as the Middle East, Africa and Halal Muslim countries.

Vietnam will also take advantage of opportunities from new-generation free trade agreements such as CPTPP and EVFTA to increase exports of key products. The Ministry of Agriculture will support businesses in signing new export orders.

In addition, authorities will closely monitor price fluctuations and essential food supplies, and coordinate with localities to promote connections in production, processing and consumption of agricultural products.

Information on markets, regulations and consumer tastes will be updated through the network of trade and agricultural counselors and e-commerce channels, especially for seasonal products such as lychee, longan and durian.
