In case the customer wants to pay upon receipt of goods, the seller will collect additional money.
Faced with the situation where some businesses only accept cash payments and refuse to transfer money to avoid taxes, the Tax Department of Region I (in charge of Hanoi and Hoa Binh) said that cases of deliberately concealing revenue and dishonest and incomplete tax declarations will be strictly handled according to regulations.
Tax authorities will collect, assess taxes and impose penalties for false declarations, tax evasion, and even criminal prosecution.
According to regulations, revenue subject to value added tax (VAT) for business households and business individuals is revenue including tax (in cases subject to tax) of all sales and service provision that business households and business individuals receive, regardless of whether the money has been collected or not.
“The act of hanging a sign saying “cash only” or writing ambiguous transfer details - for example “repaying loan”, “coffee fee”, “shipping fee”... - making it difficult for authorities to determine revenue does not reduce tax obligations, but on the contrary can become a sign of suspicion for the act of concealing revenue”, affirmed the Tax Department of Region I.
Tax authorities recommend that business households and individuals learn about legal regulations, do not listen to and follow illegal acts such as concealing revenue, lack of transparency in economic transactions; and declare correctly and fully revenue when selling goods and services.
According to Tien Phong reporters, in recent days, some individuals and business households have suddenly announced that they do not accept bank transfer payments, change the receiving account, do not apply COD - cash is collected upon delivery, entrust the collection of money to the shipping unit... because of concerns about being tracked for actual revenue.
While direct stores do not accept bank transfers, online sellers have also changed the way they receive money. Sellers change the account to receive money and do not accept COD orders. In case customers want to pay upon receipt of goods, sellers will collect an additional 1.5% personal income tax and 8% VAT.
