Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visits and works in Estonia, promoting friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries

Vietnam-Estonia relations are developing positively and still have much potential to be exploited in the coming time.

From May 27-28, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visited and worked in the Republic of Estonia. The delegation included Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland and Estonia Pham Thi Thanh Binh and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy.

During the working trip, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang had meetings and worked with leaders of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of relevant agencies to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

At the working session with Estonian Foreign Minister Martin Roger and Director General in charge of Asia- Pacific , Middle East and Africa Kristi Karelsohn, the two sides discussed the bilateral relations in recent times, as well as cooperation directions in the coming time.

The two sides assessed that the Vietnam-Estonia relationship is developing positively and still has much potential to be exploited in the future.

The two Foreign Ministries agreed to continue to promote their role in coordinating bilateral relations in promoting cooperation through dialogue mechanisms and delegation exchanges at all levels. In the immediate future, the two sides agreed to coordinate well in preparing for high-level visits and delegation exchanges in the coming time, considering this an important political driving force to promote the Vietnam-Estonia relationship to develop more substantially and effectively.

In addition, the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs will actively coordinate to connect ministries, sectors, localities and business communities of the two countries, creating favorable conditions for these entities to learn about and establish cooperative relations, contributing to expanding specific areas of cooperation.

Affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Estonia, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated Estonia's dynamic development and outstanding achievements, especially in the field of digital transformation.

The Deputy Minister expressed his wish to learn from Estonia's experience in building e-government, digital society and smart governance, emphasizing that this is an area where the two sides have a lot of room for cooperation, in line with Vietnam's development orientation and national digital transformation strategy.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang worked with Director General in charge of Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa Kristi Karelsohn.

For his part, Secretary of State Martin Roger highly appreciated Vietnam's growing role and position in the Asia-Pacific region, affirming that Vietnam is one of Estonia's key partners in the region.

Mr. Martin Roger expressed his hope that the two Foreign Ministries will soon conduct a Deputy Ministerial-level Political Consultation - a periodic exchange mechanism to discuss strategic orientations and international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Besides, Estonia expects the two sides to soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries to create an official framework, contributing to promoting comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Estonia expressed its desire to expand relations with Southeast Asian countries and increase its presence in the ASEAN region, considering this a dynamic region with rich development potential and an important strategic role in the regional and global structure. Estonia affirmed its readiness to closely coordinate with Vietnam - a prestigious partner in ASEAN - to expand cooperation with this region.

The discussions during the working visit took place in an open, trusting and constructive atmosphere. The two sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue mechanisms, promote information exchange, enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and coordinate effectively at multilateral forums and international cooperation frameworks, especially on global issues such as digital transformation, education, innovation, cyber security and sustainable development.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang's working trip to Estonia has significantly contributed to consolidating the political foundation, enhancing mutual understanding and trust, creating new momentum for the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Estonia to develop more deeply, substantially and effectively in the coming time.
