Ambassador Le Quang Long presents his credentials to the President of the Dominican Republic

President Luis Abinader expressed his belief that during his term, Ambassador Le Quang Long will contribute to further promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

On May 29 (local time), in the capital Santo Domingo, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba and concurrently to the Dominican Republic Le Quang Long officially presented his credentials to President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader Corona.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ambassador had meetings to promote bilateral cooperation.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Ambassador Le Quang Long conveyed greetings and best wishes from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to President Abinader Corona.

Expressing his honor to be received by President Abinader Corona on the occasion of the two countries preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (July 20, 2005 - July 20, 2025), Ambassador Le Quang Long affirmed that he will make every effort to promote the development of cooperation between the two countries to a new height in the coming time, serving as a bridge to coordinate and realize the agreements that the two sides reached during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to the Dominican Republic in November 2024 - a landmark visit to strengthen the good traditional friendship and create momentum for economic - trade and investment cooperation.

Ambassador Le Quang Long also asked the Dominican Government to pay attention and create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the Dominican Republic market, especially in the telecommunications sector - a field in which Vietnam has strengths and the Dominican Republic has demand.

President Luis Abinader congratulated Ambassador Le Quang Long and expressed his belief that during his term of office, the Ambassador will contribute to further promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing his admiration for the heroic history of the Vietnamese people throughout the long history of fighting for national independence, as well as the current national construction and development, President Luis Abinader affirmed that Dominica attaches importance to the relationship with Vietnam - a country with an increasingly important role in the Asia-Pacific region, sending a permanent Ambassador in 2022 and opening an Embassy in Vietnam in 2023.

The President suggested that the two sides expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, especially telecommunications, agriculture and high technology.

On this occasion, Ambassador Le Quang Long had working meetings with Deputy Minister in charge of Bilateral Foreign Policy Francisco Caraballo of the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Secretary of the Dominican United Left Movement Party Miguel Mejia.

At the meetings, both sides emphasized the importance of putting high-level agreements into practice and effectiveness, thereby bringing Vietnam-Dominica relations to a new height.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting delegation exchanges at all levels, effectively implementing the political consultation mechanism, promoting bilateral cooperation in areas of both countries' strengths and needs; and coordinating and supporting each other at international forums.

The presentation of credentials and bilateral activities on this occasion are important steps, contributing to concretizing the commitments of the two countries' senior leaders, while creating new momentum for the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic in the coming time.
