US Deputy Secretary of State visits Vietnam

In Hanoi, US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya will highlight the strength and dynamism of the US-Vietnam relationship to achieve the shared goals of peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Ms. Uzra Zeya, US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights , visited Vietnam and Malaysia from August 25-31.

During his meeting with senior Vietnamese officials, the Deputy Secretary of State will emphasize the United States’ commitment to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, including the promotion and protection of human rights and joint responses to global challenges such as human trafficking and other transnational crimes.

Prior to that, in Malaysia, the Deputy Secretary will meet with senior officials and members of the press to discuss the US commitment to governance reform and cooperation on strategic priorities including combating human trafficking and corruption, as well as support for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
