Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Chairman of the National Congress Party

At the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam and India have a long-standing traditional friendship, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and nurtured by generations of senior leaders and people of the two countries.

The Prime Minister thanked the contributions of the Congress Party, including the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Ms. Sonia Gandhi in her previous positions as Prime Minister and President of the Congress Party, to the development of Vietnam-India relations.

The Prime Minister also affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam and the National Congress Party have always maintained a good traditional friendship, which is an important factor contributing to promoting and nurturing the Vietnam-India relationship today.

Historically, India has repeatedly expressed solidarity with Vietnam's struggle for independence and unification. This year, in particular, marks the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities (1954-2024). India is a country that actively participated in and contributed to promoting the achievement of this agreement.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam and India are not only traditional friends, but also Comprehensive Strategic Partners with great and open potential for cooperation; they are making efforts to promote the potential and strengths of the two countries, bringing the cooperative relationship into depth and effectiveness in the fields of defense-security, economy-trade, science-technology, culture-education and people-to-people exchange.

The Congress Party leaders highly appreciated the results of the Prime Minister's visit to India, and affirmed that the Congress Party, regardless of its position, has always consistently and strongly supported the development of Vietnam-India relations; expressed the desire to further consolidate and strengthen the traditional friendship between the Congress Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam through information exchange, consultation, and delegation exchanges in the coming time.
