The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a non-profit organization operating in the form of public-private partnership, founded in 1971 by Professor Klaus Schwab, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

WEF currently has about 700 partners who are leaders of the world's leading corporations in various fields.

The most important event of WEF is the Annual Conference held every January in Davos, Switzerland. Besides that, there are regional forums: WEF Tianjin Conference (or Dalian, China), WEF ASEAN Conference...

WEF events attract the participation of many of the world's leading political, business, cultural, social, research and academic leaders, aiming to shape agendas at the regional and global levels.

Since Vietnam and WEF established relations in 1989, cooperation between Vietnam and WEF has been promoted and developed in many fields by leaders of both sides.

Vietnam has attended the WEF Davos Annual Meeting at the Prime Minister level five times; the WEF Pioneers Annual Meeting in Tianjin once and the WEF ASEAN Meeting at the Prime Minister level four times.

At the WEF Tianjin Conference in June 2023, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Vietnam-WEF cooperation for the 2023-2026 period, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Professor Klaus Schwab. This is an important foundation to promote bilateral cooperation in the new period.

This MoU focuses on cooperation in six areas including: Innovation in the food sector; Development of innovation and green transformation skills; Industrial clusters towards net zero emissions; Promoting actions on plastics, including the Global Plastics Partnership Action Programme (GPAP); Financing for renewable energy transition; Cooperation in digital transformation and promoting the establishment of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).
