According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Xuan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD), in order to promote organic agricultural production, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province issued Plan No. 1934/KH-UBND dated August 19, 2020 to implement Decision No. 885/QD-TTg dated June 23, 2020 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on organic agricultural development for the period 2020-2030 in the province.

Organic agricultural production in Tay Ninh is developing positively, gradually meeting market demand for safe, quality and environmentally friendly agricultural products.

There are currently 2 enterprises certified to produce organic products in the field of crops, including: Hai Au Agricultural Development Joint Stock Company Branch certified in 2024 according to Japanese JAS standards, certified area of ​​4 hectares on pumpkin plants; Umbrella Import Export Company Limited, certified in 2020 according to EU Organic production method (cassava) and USDA-NOP organic production method (cassava cultivation, treatment/processing), certified area of ​​54 hectares on cassava plants.

Particularly in the field of livestock and aquaculture, there are no facilities, organizations, or businesses that are certified to produce organic agricultural products.

Promote organic agricultural production

Along with the development of organic agriculture, the province also pays great attention to encouraging the use of organic fertilizers to improve soil, reduce environmental pollution and improve the quality of agricultural products. On September 17, 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) issued Plan No. 3459/KH-SNN to implement the Project on developing the production and use of organic fertilizers by 2030, with a vision to 2050 in the province.

This includes the task of "developing and diversifying organic fertilizer products", focusing on contents such as encouraging the development, production and use of organic fertilizers on a household scale, taking advantage of by-products from crop production, livestock, agricultural processing, and household waste.

In addition, developing a variety of high-quality organic fertilizer products, organic fertilizers containing beneficial microorganisms, convenient for users, helping to stabilize soil fertility and improve economic efficiency; reduce the amount of inorganic fertilizers; improve soil health to serve sustainable agricultural development; create safe agricultural products, protect consumers' health and increase economic efficiency in agricultural production.

Currently, the province has policies to encourage farmers and businesses to use organic fertilizers and achieve organic certifications in agriculture, including: specific policies to encourage businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas in the province for the period 2020-2025 (Decision 20/2020/QD-UBND dated June 12, 2020 of Tay Ninh People's Committee); policies to support the application of good agricultural practices in agriculture and aquaculture in the province, period 2022-2025 (Resolution No. 18/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 9, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council); Policy on loan interest support for developing good agricultural practices, high-tech agriculture, and organic agriculture in the province for the period 2019-2025 (Decision No. 21/2019/QD-UBND dated June 17, 2019 of the Provincial People's Committee).

Hue Phuong Green Environment Fertilizer Production and Trading Company Limited (Thanh Duc Commune, Go Dau District) is one of the fertilizer production enterprises in the province participating in the production of organic fertilizers. The products have been certified by the competent authorities to meet the prescribed standards and are allowed to be circulated on the market. However, currently, most of the organic fertilizer products of this enterprise are only used in the Central Highlands market, while in the province, farmers are not "interested", only preferring to use inorganic fertilizers according to long-standing habits.

Mr. Le Dinh Tuan - manager of the company's organic fertilizer factory said that the company's organic fertilizer is produced from organic sludge composted from household waste that has been transferred through a screening machine and a crusher to reduce the size, then combined with rice husk ash and coconut ash to create the finished product. The product has an organic quality of 35% to 38%, helping plants grow well and is environmentally friendly.

Although organic fertilizers bring many practical benefits to agricultural and environmental development, people and businesses are not yet "favored" to use them. Therefore, in the coming time, functional sectors and local authorities need to step up propaganda about the benefits of using organic fertilizers so that farmers understand and correctly perceive the importance of organic fertilizers for current agricultural production.
