In recent times, the Women's Union of Nga Bay City has been very active in propaganda and mobilization, along with effective operating models that have contributed to increasing the rate of people, especially members and women participating in voluntary health insurance (HI) and social insurance (SI).
Dai Thanh Commune Women's Union presents social insurance books to female members of Son Phu Agricultural Cooperative.
Recognizing the importance of health insurance and voluntary social insurance, the City Women's Union regularly coordinates with the City Social Insurance, along with local Party committees and authorities to actively propagate to raise awareness for cadres, members, women and people about the benefits of the above two types of insurance so that everyone has more conditions to monitor, take care of their health, treat diseases and ensure financial resources to stabilize their lives when they are old.
According to the City Association, propaganda and mobilization work for members and women to participate in insurance is carried out regularly, integrated with activities at clubs and branch meetings. At the same time, it is disseminated on social networking sites of the association at all levels, zalo groups in the system and other electronic information sites.
Since the beginning of the year, the association has coordinated to promote, mobilize new participants and buy back 6,964 health insurance cards, of which 55 members aged 60-79 have received free support. The association has also mobilized 587 new people to participate in voluntary social insurance, bringing the total number to 1,175. In addition, it has mobilized to support 32 free health insurance cards and 243 interest-free installment cards for members, women and children in difficult circumstances.
To achieve that result, the city's associations at all levels have built many diverse and effective models and activities such as the model "Support for purchasing voluntary health insurance"; "Women's group saving money in piggy banks, for health safety"; "Women from poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households saving money to participate in voluntary social insurance"; "Women saving money to buy health insurance, voluntary social insurance" club, with a participation fee of 297,000 VND/month. Up to now, there are 410 members, women, association officials at all levels and cooperatives participating in the models and clubs.
Most recently, a highlight in the mobilization work that the City Women's Union highly appreciated was the model "Female cooperative members participating in voluntary health insurance and social insurance" which mobilized many women in Son Phu Agricultural Cooperative, Son Phu 1 Hamlet, Dai Thanh Commune to participate. This is the first cooperative in the area that the City Women's Union mobilized women to participate in voluntary social insurance.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Toan, Director of Son Phu Agricultural Cooperative, said: “After being promoted by the City Women's Union, I see that participating in health insurance and social insurance will bring many benefits, so I also want the women in the cooperative to join. Currently, there are 23 women members of the cooperative, but only about 10 of them have participated in social insurance, because most of the people's economy does not meet their living needs, so they are still hesitant to participate en masse. I will try next year, when business is stable, to encourage women to participate more actively, aiming for all women in the cooperative to participate in 100% voluntary social insurance."
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Bich, Vice President of the City Women's Union, said: "Mobilizing women in Son Phu Agricultural Cooperative to participate in voluntary health insurance and social insurance is the first step in promoting women in cooperatives in the city to participate in insurance. This approach will expand the scope of women's participation, contributing to the locality increasing the rate of people participating in insurance."
According to Ms. Bich, not only women in the Son Phu Agricultural Cooperative who are in difficult circumstances have not fully participated 100%, but this is the common situation of many women in the area. In addition, the procedure for joining insurance for new people takes a lot of time, plus the high insurance premiums, so many people have given up halfway, including those who participated before. Therefore, in the future, in addition to maintaining and promoting the effectiveness of the models, the City Women's Union will closely coordinate with the City Social Insurance to strengthen training and guidance to create the most favorable conditions for documents and procedures to create a strong change in the awareness of members, women and people about participating in voluntary health insurance and social insurance.
