On the afternoon of March 26, Nguyen Tien Minh had a round of 32 match against Indian player Samarveer. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) website only said that Samarveer is 19 years old and currently ranked 170th in the world.
Meanwhile, Tien Minh is ranked 330th in the world and is 42 years old. But once again, he showed incredible endurance despite facing an opponent 23 years younger. Even in tough situations, the Vietnamese badminton legend did not show any weakness.
In game 1, Tien Minh created a 21-13 victory. But then his declining physical strength made it more difficult for him.
Tien Minh's running steps are no longer agile enough. However, he still maintains his technical skills and does not let himself be left too far behind.
Samarveer won the next two games with difficulty with the score 23-21, 21-17.
Losing this match, Tien Minh said goodbye to the Ciputra Hanoi - Vietnam International Challenge 2025 Badminton Tournament.
His journey in the tournament was quite successful considering his age. In the qualifying round, he defeated Pui Chi Chon (Macau, China). In the round of 64, Tien Minh continued to beat the fourth seed and his compatriot Nguyen Hai Dang (ranked 62nd in the world).
This result not only resonated domestically, but was also praised by international media.
The Ciputra Hanoi - Vietnam International Challenge 2025 badminton tournament takes place from March 25 to 30 at Tay Ho District Gymnasium (Hanoi).
This year's tournament has about 80 men's singles athletes, 40 women's singles athletes, 40 men's doubles, 40 women's doubles, 40 mixed doubles participating, from badminton powerhouses such as China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia...
