Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Huu Son expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of the French Republic and colleagues, friends, scientists at home and abroad who have accompanied him for more than 40 years of research and work. He considered this not only a personal honor but also a recognition of the efforts of many generations of artisans, scientists and cultural workers in cultivating theeducational and cultural cooperation relationship between Vietnam and France.


Dr. Tran Huu Son is a folklore researcher and cultural manager who has made many contributions to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in the northern mountainous region of Vietnam. He is the author of many valuable folklore research works, with 8 books written separately, 18 books written together and dozens of scientific projects applied in practice. During his research, he has closely cooperated with many French scientists in projects to preserve cultural heritage such as ancient Dao books, ancient stone carvings in Sa Pa, and developing community cultural tourism in Lao Cai.

The Order of Academic Palms is a noble award of the French Government for individuals who have made special contributions in the fields of education and culture. The awarding of the medal once again affirms the role of a cultural bridge between Vietnam and France that Dr. Tran Huu Son has persistently built throughout his career.
