English is not a compulsory subject in the exam.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued Decision No. 4068/QD-BGDĐT approving the "Plan for organizing the High School Graduation Examination and Recognition from 2025".

The exam should accurately assess students' learning outcomes according to the goals and standards required by the 2018 General Education Program.

Exam results are used to determine eligibility for high school graduation and as one of the bases for evaluating the quality of teaching and learning in general education institutions and the guidance work of educational management agencies;

Providing sufficiently reliable data for higher education and vocational education institutions to use in admissions in the spirit of autonomy.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , students who have completed the high school program or the high school-level continuing education program in the year the exam is held, or who have completed the high school program or the high school-level continuing education program but have not yet taken the high school graduation exam, or who have taken the exam but have not yet graduated and wish to take the exam to be recognized as having graduated from high school, are eligible to take the exam.

Students who have a high school diploma or a vocational diploma and wish to take the exam to use the results as a basis for admission to higher education or vocational education.

Accordingly, the exam content closely follows the content of the 2018 General Education Program. The Literature exam will be in essay format. The remaining subjects will be in multiple-choice format.

Candidates are required to take Literature, Mathematics, and two elective subjects from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economics and Law Education, Informatics, Technology).

The high school graduation exam is held nationwide using a common exam format, a common exam period, and at the same time as stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Combine the results of the process assessment and the results of the graduation exam in a proportion consistent with the implementation roadmap of the 2018 General Education Program.
